per AutoBlog: "We hear the constant nattering about the Mustang not having an independent rear suspension. Frankly, it's quite simple. It doesn't need it. Most of the people who race Mustangs do it on drag strips where a live axle is the best weapon. Elsewhere, Mustang FR500s (with live axles) have been winning consistently in the Grand Am road racing series for the last several years."

Please stop knocking the GT500 because it doesn't have IRS. It doesn't need it. The current live rear axle was developed during years of road racing the FR500.

Everybody who bought a GT500KR last year must be Pissed right now, and they deserve it. The 2010 GT500 has more power but for $45,000 if ford wants to stick with a SRA then why don't they give the GT500 the Ford 9" Rear end, which is much stronger??? Overall I think it is an improvement, though I dought it will be much faster since it will have a hard time putting the power down with it 8.8" rear end.

I hate to admit this, but if I had $50K to buy a car, as much as I love the Camaro, I would have an EXTREMELY hard time try to choose between the 2SS or the GT500 (I'm 17, so I dont have the cash for either one, I'm just daydreamin' ). Both of them have their down sides, and good sides (good over rules bad on both cars). They will both be incredible cars, that I'm pretty sure of.
obviously you dont know too much about cars. please link both sites showing where the GT500 is lighter than the Camaro.

This should be good.

let me help you, "Unfortunately, one aspect that didn't change is the cast iron engine block. The aluminum block that was used in the Ford GT supercar had a dry sump system that can't be packaged in the Mustang. Thus, the iron block from the F-150 was used with the top end of the GT engine, which pushed the car's weight up over 3,900 lbs. That makes the GT500 both the heaviest and most powerful Mustang.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

ya thats what i thought too. the gt500 is way overweight. my 03 termi was heavy because of the IRS, but with a SRA in the gt500, it should have stayed the same or lost weight

I think so, too.
I like the back end of the '07-'09 GT500 better than the 2010 GT500.
I like the hood vents on the '07-'09 GT500 better than the "paper shredder slot".
I think the front end of the '07-'09 GT500 is cleaner and less busy looking.
I don't like the racing stripes on the seats and shift knob on the 2010 GT500.

And anyone can add the FRPP CAI kit with ProCal tuner and have the exact components used to bump the '07-'09 500hp/480tq GT500 motor up to 540hp/510tq for the GT500KR and the 2010 GT500. (Like I already did on my '08 GT500.)
