I like the styling of the '10 Mustang better than the Camaro, but i do believe the Camaro will be a better all-around drive. Who knows until the car hits the streets. I test drove a '05 GT when they were new and it was a great driving car, heads and tails over mine. That is what is will down to for me,driving both of them.
I never liked the boat feeling of the last 2 LS1 F-bodies i drove before i got my Mustang,it's slower but more nimble feeling and still fast for a DD,so that's what i went with. Again, math is one thing, driving is another.
I will never understand why people have such a narrow view on these cars that they break them down to cold dead numbers. Yes,it's nice to know what each car will do for certain benchmarks,i've fallen in that trap as well, but the drive is the thing. I've owned a Miata and a E46 BMW,both were hardly impressive on paper, but OMG they were heavenly to drive. So if the Mustang is more fun and pushes more personal buttons, that will be the car, same for the Camaro....sound,feel,looks. I really want to test drive a GT500 or SRT8 anything(Magnum,Challenger) to experience what "bowel emptying acceleration" feels like.
I love Camaros and Mustangs,i love all pony cars,i've been here a few months but not for any reason other than to learn about the Camaro,i'm not scared or here to defend my car. I'll defend it if someone says something stupid about though.

They are fighting their guts out for you and the millions like you. GM is hoping that you will see the value added and pay a more to get more. Ford hopes you will see the bottom dollar savings as enough to offset the lesser performance.

Also, GM is trying to steal prospective GT V8 buyers with the less expensive V6 Camaro... A big gamble on GM's part. We'll see how it plays out.

But, make no mistake. You, Sir, are exactly the guy they are fighting tooth and nail over.
Good post, great insight. It is a battle. I will drive them all, the V6, V8, and the Mustang Gt...and make a desicsion. It will be tough...

yes GTOs are available at a great value. But, I'm not ready to put them this close to the camaro.

Just my opinion.

Cylinder deactivation has been in cars before, sure, but no one else uses it at the moment, and it is done in a different way than has ever been done in the past.
How about:

Direct Gasoline Injection (on the V-6)
6-Speed on all models all versions.
Stability Control Standard

1SS and 2SS will be great performance cars.but GM is going to push the V-6 LT/RS just watch the lots.you will pay above MSRP on the SS for the first year. Most guys who buy the SS won't be your young i'm faster then you.The V-6 guys are the ones out to prove to the mustang guys what they got.Would you buy a corvette with a V-6,it's still a corvette.True AMERICAN MUSCLE will be a V-8 always has been always will.

Can't stand the look of the GTO though. A total failure, IMO.

I disagree, it seems Chevy is bringing the Camaro back a high value, High performance, Modern Sports Coupe. Not just some resurected reto Muscle Car that just goes fast in a straight line and terrible at everything else. With the Camaro they have somewhat drifted away from the traditional American Muscle car, Which I think is a good thing. Guys my age like to go fast in a straight line, But we also like to stop well and go around corners. If you look at people who drive mustangs, I Just see oldler men and weman driveing them. The camaro has the goods to appeal to the younger crowd. The Camaro v6 is absoulte proof that it is more modern than Retro.

When I read the mustang forums they keep saying wait till 2011 when the mystical 5.0 400hp V8 arrives. Lets say this happens (though I doubt it), How do you guys think a 400hp Mustang will stack up to the 2011 Camaro equiped with 3.73 gears? I assume the mustang will increase in weight and price a bit too.

I think we should wait before the Camaro comes out before we attack the Mustang. Right now, the new Camaro doesn't exist.

I'm thinking that will be just about a dead heat. In my opinion it will come down to the driver.
