In any case, were arguing neglible weight differences.

I was under the impression just the opposite was true. Curb weights are for base models unless otherwise noted.

Includes a model with standard equipment. Not all options available.

We have been through this.

I am rather certain ford knows how much the car weighs. Have you even looked up the official specs on your own car instead of a rags numbers?
Cars are listed with curb weight...to keep things fair you have to use this number.
Any difference that is published is due to variance in the scale/amounts of fluid.
Ford lists the 2011 GT500 at something like 3820. Marginally lighter than an M6 SS at 3860 curb weight.
here it is...http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2011_GT500_Specs.pdf
Coupe=3820 Convertible =3929

No mystery here, except to those that do not know the Shelby. The 2011 GT500 is 3,750lbs with the standard sound system, and 3,820 with the upgraded sound system (Subs, etc.).... not that it really matters when you have ~500HP at the wheels in stock form.....

Interesting. I guess there really is no standard on how they figure the number. I know this, however. My 2007 GT500, without the optional Shaker 1000, weighed exactly 3851lbs with a full tank of gas. I had a chance to weigh it on a four-corner scale when I first bought it. The "official" Ford curb weight for the 2007 GT500 was 3920. Go figure.

2011 Mustang GT gear difference.

Sorry if a re-post...but I couldn't find in the search. What are the 0-60, and 1/4 miles times respectively, for the gt with the 3:13, 3:55, and 3:73 rear gears? My buddy has the gt with the optional 3:55, and I can pull him 8 out of 10 times. Both manual trannies. Every time I find #'s on the gt, it is with the track pack with the 3:73's.

Talk about an efficient drivetrain, only 50hp lost in the drivetrain!!!! Amazing!

Can anyone tell me the comparison of the 2011 gt regarding the rear gears? In terms of 0-60, and 1/4 mile with respect to the 3:13, 3:55, and 3:73 gear choices? I tried to search but came up empty! Thanks

We don't have a good range of numbers as yet, that should likely be remedied by the fall. Interestingly, many predicted that, in stock trim, the 3.73:1 axle ratio might not be the quickest through the 1/4 mile due to 3rd gear pegging out just before the end of the 1/4 on an ideal run requiring a shift or riding the rev limiter through the traps. So far, the numbers we do have seem to prove this to be true with 3.55:1 equipped cars running at least as fast through the 1/4 as 3.73:1 equipped models. This could prove to be a bit like the 69-70 Mustang where, in stock trim, the 428CJ was actually a hair faster than the up-option 428SCj due to a lighter crank.

I think the fastest 1/4 mile on the new 5.0(stock) has been recorded by the automatic transmission, which I believe is a 3.13 ratio.. (not 100% on that)

proving just how useless this thread has become, no one wants to dig through 253 pages of fanboism to find the jewels burried deep within.
