My Camaro and my Mustang BOTH run laps FAASTER than a Z06 Vette. I'll compare BOTH four seaters to the TWO seat Vette all day long. They are BOTH heavier. BOTH are in the same Price Range as the Z06.

What appears to be lost in this thread is there are NO RIGHT ANSWERS. There are ONLY opinions. The SCCA puts light and heavy cars in the same class. They put fours bangers in with V8s. They have pages and pages of rules and regulations about car classes. Go to an SCCA event and you will hear drivers debate the rule and classes just like you read in this thread.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

that's like only cause the 5.0's rev limiter is too low from factory, man. without it the 5.0 can rev to 10,000 RPS (revolutions per second) and it's power output is similar to that of a nuclear reactor. it's science.

I tried to special order that capacitor, but they were on backorder due to their overwhelming success.

What they should have done is make a single flux capacitor, go back in time, make a bunch of them, then have them all released as standard equipment on all Camaros and Corvettes.

Car and Driver 2011 GT500 PP test car weighed in at 3,751 pounds.

Not with a full tank.

We have been through this.

I am rather certain ford knows how much the car weighs. Have you even looked up the official specs on your own car instead of a rags numbers?

Cars are listed with curb weight...to keep things fair you have to use this number.

Any difference that is published is due to variance in the scale/amounts of fluid.

Ford lists the 2011 GT500 at something like 3820. Marginally lighter than an M6 SS at 3860 curb weight.

here it is...http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2011_GT500_Specs.pdf

Coupe=3820 Convertible =3929

What you say is true, but also remember, the official curb weight is the weight of the vehicle with all the options available on the vehicle installed and all vital fluids, including a full tank of fuel. I know opting out of the non-Shaker 1000 stereo upgrade alone is worth ~60lbs by itself on a GT500. I can't imagine what the glassroof option adds to the offical curb weight.

In any case, were arguing neglible weight differences.
