My son's first cruise night w/his car yields interesting results ...
Hey everyone.
My son is 16 and a junior in high school. He is also a pitcher on the baseball team and, like other kids his age, juggles his sports and his academics. Since he is the only one of my kids who shares my passion for old cars, I made a deal with him when he started high school ... be a good boy, get satisfactory grades and continue to excel at baseball, and we'll build you a car. So we started with a '68 Chevelle that I purchased from a buddy a little over a year ago. It had been sitting for almost 10 years, so it needed a little bit of everything. I'll spare you the blow-by-blow of the bumpy road getting here ... but we attended our first cruise night together this past week (Bob's on Wed night in Downey): (my '57 Nomad is parked along side) Well, while there, a guy approached us about our cars. He is from a production company that works for "El Garage TV" ... the spanish version of "Speed TV" that is seen in South America, Mexico and parts of the US and Canada. Long story short ... he came to our house today and interviewed my son and I as well as taking many photos and video of my son's Chevelle, my Nomad and my Camaro. Supposedly it will take 2-3 months to air ... but the cool things is that it will not be dubbed, but aired in english with spanish sub-titles (there is a chance a version of the show will be used in the US on english channels). A link will also be on YouTube soon before it airs. Some of you may not find this as interesting as I do ... but I'm just a proud Dad sharing my story. I will post a link to the YouTube video when it airs for whomever is interested. Thanks and take care ... |

What a great story. How about some more pics when you get a minute. Great experience for your son. Nothing better than a father bonding with his son.
Thankx for sharing. |
