The Muscle Apocolypse

ALERT: THIS IS A NOVEL xD

Im sure one of you have posted about this.... but i havent seen it. Ive been thinking about this for a while:

Nowadays everyone is switching over to electric cars, bio-fuels, and everything green & hippy. Im cool with that. Save the Earth n all,..... but what about the muscle cars? I for one have never heard an electric muscle car that's revving didn't sound like it came out of Toy Story 3. Im sure that some (like that Porsche 911 electric car) are powerful and alright, but theres not going to truly be a All American Muscle Veggie Oil Camaro (speaking of that 911, it costs the base 911 price plus 30 grand for conversion. Not your average muscle car owner price range). I know some people will think i have a point, and others will thnk im retarded, but think about it. Eventually there wont be enough oil to go around :( While it might not be a concern to you "old timers", it is to some of us younger muscle car enthusiasts because we carry the responsibility to carry on the tradition. One thing i dont know though is if veggie oil and bio-fuels like that still ignite with the same roar as gasoline does (maybe keeping the muscle cars alive?). But i know one thing: There wont be no 1,200hp veggie-mobiles

To each his own.

Not an argument, just wanted some thoughts/opinions

This is a topic thats been on my mind awhile and wanted to vent it onto some cyberspace xD

There will always be performance cars.

They just might not be powered by internal combustion engines.

Who says gas from dino juice is the only way to get a rumble?

Commuter cars and small SUVs will continue to be electrified...but look at the costs. The Volt is 40k, and the nissan leaf is...what, 33? A dinky little car like that with 100 miles to drive...33k. Until price comes down DRASTICALLY...or liquid fuel prices literally skyrocket...they won't take hold. And I'd guess we have decades before that happens.

Then...there's the assumption that we must all be driven by ONE source. If electricity is the source of choice -- unfortunately, the fact is that the grid can't support ALL cars on the road. Not without significant investment in 'smartgrid' technology and nuclear power plants to support the load. So...this means that for the foreseeable future, we will have a diverse portfolio of vehicles. Electrics, bio/diesel, gasoline, Ethanol...

I see no reason to worry about something that's so very far off. Get it out of your head and keep working towards that Camaro!

Hybrid,Prius,Volt...........those are not cheap "eco" cars.

As soon as the gas prices came down, the sales for them have also dropped.
Folks are back buying their SUV's................

Oh i wasnt worried... just thinking i know it probably wont be affecting me within my lifetime (unless as u said the fuel eco skyrockets). And dont worry, im back at working after my family went on vacation Got the job back (boss likes me aparently).

And yeah those electric cars are pretty freaking heavy on the wallet. A wealthy person who could afford a car like that probably would not care about gas (unless theyre all green) anyways if they are willing to lay down the money for one of those (especially, if i read it right, that they have a 20k up in the prices if you actually look at buying them)

PS- Great forum u got urself :P

YEP! I'm glad someone got to it. Basically we will never run out of fuel because we have diesel cycle engines haha it's just a matter of liquifying it and compressing it enough. Everything burns at a certain pressure/temp. The very first Diesel engine ran on peanut oil. and people are figuring out how to make ALOT of power out of diesel cycle motors, while making the motors smaller and lighter at the same time. I think Koenigsegg actually makes an option in their CCX to run on bio-fuel and it makes MORE power than the gas version haha.

So ya, I hear ya to an extent OP. but as long as there are cars, there will be fast ones.

There was a time when people thought you couldn't make power with Un-leaded fuel too... evolution my friend

EDIT: haha I actually posted this without reading the link.... turns out I probably should have
