Which is part of the reason I posted...ulterior motives are tricky things if they aren't caught...

and it looks like all of them praise the 2010 GT's handling performance in the track pack over the SS and it wins every time in that category so based on what these car magazine's say I'd have to give the quicker lap time around Adam's Motorsport's Park to the 2010 Mustang GT. The mags do praise the SS ride quality over the GT but on all out performance and track qualities the GT scores higher which is what you asked about. If you want to know his personal option on 2010 SS vs 2010 GT then comment on his video's he always replies. |

I couldn't of been anymore fair and polite in what I said after that. I thought it was quite apparent that I didn't have "ulterior motives" and am not the sort of forum member that does that sort of stuff. I never even brought up the word mustang since this thread has nothing to do with mustang's or putting down the SS. |

It will only be a valid comparison with the same driver on the same day with alternating laps. My point is the clip is nothing more than an opinion supported by out of context truths. The show has little credibility. It was a very entertaining clip to be sure. Very little contextual truth can be had from it.
Hopefully folks see the clip for what it is... I'm out, I feel spending this much typing about the clip potential gives it to much perceived credibility ![]() Quote:

Credibility?
The Smoking Tire Review is apart of the Fast Lane Daily group of show's and is very credible and leading the way of modern automotive journalism and is gaining in popularity everyday. I cant think of a more honest automotive journalism then those guys. Besides what does credibility have to do with one persons opinion of a car. |

This reviewer must have some hidden credibility that I'm unaware of. What a bizarre review. Who on earth was that for?
Good thing he poked holes in all that Camaro marketing about how great it is at a one gear, over-sized go-kart track. Thank goodness someone finally struck down the myth that a Camaro is actually a fully leather appointed Cadillac. We definitely needed someone to put the lie to the idea that a Camaro is just like a VW. Those GTI owners could've never told the difference! And who needs a car that thousands of people rent just to experience even the economy version of it? Passion and popularity are truly a scourge. For his follow-up review, maybe he could fill us in on the difficulty girls have applying their makeup while he's driving it over speed bumps. Or he could just complain about the change holder and the overly bright light in the glove box. Well done, maestro! Next up - Are bermuda shorts really the perfect attire for a job interview? We'll find out!

I took the liberty to sift through his comments to answer a few question's some of you might of had.
EclipseGS04 2 days ago @TheSmokingTire Your the BIGGEST Ford Fan boy EVER! Take your biased reviews off youtube and cry about the Mustang to someone else who cares darthemma 3 days ago How much did Ford pay you to post this crap review? You do realize the driver's seat does go up and down? I put my GPS on the console. I'm a woman and I think the visibility if fine. I love my Camaro SS and I'd kick your Mustang's ass with it. TheSmokingTire 2 days ago 9 @darthemma Look, if you drive a camaro SS and are happy with it, then I'm happy for you. I'm glad you bought the car you wanted. But blindly accusing me of taking money from Ford to give a FAIR review of the Camaro is completely ridiculous and un-called for. I WISH Ford, GM, or anyone would pay me to review their cars favorably, but they don't. If they did, I'd be rich as hell right now. I have no motivation to say one thing vs. another in a review besides my own integrity. ------------------------------------------------- furian777 2 days ago Good review, though I think I smell a mustang fan. Doesn't matter, you made valid points. Though I would have addressed the weight of the beast. TheSmokingTire 2 days ago @furian777 I'm a Mustang fan for one reason: I've driven all 3 of these cars, and allowed other people to drive them when I've had them, and my friends and I have universally agreed the Mustang is the most fun to drive of the 3, and offers the most performance/fun/quality for the price. The weight didn't seem as big of an issue in the Camaro as I thought it was going to be, my other gripes with it seemed more significant. furian777 2 days ago @TheSmokingTire I agree, I'm typically not a ford fan but the new GT is a well rounded deal, though I'm not thrilled on the exterior. I do have to laugh how you didn't mention the Challenger in your muscle car reference in the beginning. Coming from a Mopar fan here, its the sad truth TheSmokingTire 2 days ago @furian777 I don't consider the challenger a Sports Car, because it's terrible at every performance test and certainly doesn't feel like a sports car. It's a great looking, comfortable cruiser that sounds good in SRT8 trim. ------------------------------------------------------------ RacersMoment 3 days ago @TheSmokingTirewhen The 2010 camaro was compared to the 2010 mustang and the 2010 challenger, camaro came out on top, in style and performance... TheSmokingTire 3 days ago @RacersMoment That was then, and this is now. We're comparing cars that are in showrooms today. Since that comparison test you're referencing (which we didn't do), the Mustang has gained 100 horsepower, an extra gear, and much bigger brakes. RacersMoment 3 days ago @TheSmokingTire No, it was car and driver, they dont lie, it was judged by a team of EXPERTS, the smoking tire is NOT an expert! and nor are you! TheSmokingTire 2 days ago @RacersMoment I know more bad journalists that work for print magazines than I care to mention. That still doesn't answer my point at all. Since that test, there is an all new powertrain in the Mustang. Sure, the 2010 wasn't all that, but the 2011 positively blows the doors off the Camaro and Challenger. There's no point comparing this Camaro to a car that's out of production, especially when there are no changes planned for the 2011 Camaro. ---------------------------------------------------------- italomopar 1 day ago Yo matt i dont understand why ford doesnt fix maybe for wat i think is the only problem with the mustang being rear suspension why dont they make it independent is would make the ford run circles around that car easy but why dont they do it it could be cost but at this point thats easely fixable wat do yu think TheSmokingTire 1 day ago @italomopar 3 reasons: 1) Weight. An IRS adds about 200 pounds to the car. 2) Price. An IRS adds about $1500 to the cost of the car, and 3) Drag Racing. Many Mustang owners drag race their cars, and the live axle setup is better for drag racing. In most cases, the live axles in the new Mustangs are fine. The only time we'd wished for an IRS is when driving very fast over bumpy roads. Since that's a relatively rare condition, they don't feel the need. Last edited by BigDan; 08-14-2010 at 07:56 PM. |
