I found this today on slashdot.com:

"Toshiba said Thursday that it will show off a new line up of NAND-flash-based solid state drives with the industry's first 2.5-inch 512GB SSD. A Toshiba solid state drive is shown in a publicity photo. but yeah, the one they have is nice, the only thing i would do is bump up the processor to a lil higher speed one. and thats one thing too, for the price its a good laptop. and for what you will be using it for, it will do all that and more.

I just got my new desktop in this morning.

AMD 9500 quadcore processor
64 bit Vista OS
640Gb HD
6Gb ddr3 memory
and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card.

plus a few other little things here and there.

and my 27" lcd monitor.

its a nic-a
lol amd...

2.5" drive = more expensive
512GB SSD = lots more expensive
pricing should be fun to see. it would make for a ridiculous storage in a small space, though.

I guess it would be a little over the top just for mobile fun, but it's the only brand that can hold up to my Shake-n-Bake ways. You can get a nice off-lease model on ebay for cheap if you need something that'll take a licking and keep on ticking.

CF29

CF73 is pretty decent also. You don't get the latest greatest, but you get a laptop that won't shatter if you drop it.

I'd pay a dollar to see that clip!
I think I saw that one on ebay matter of fact.
Does anything survive a fall like that?

well, we've "accidentally" dropped them before and they'll still work afterwards. we had one that had a torque wrench dropped right on the hinge, which screwed up the tq wrench to start, but it landed just right enough so that we couldnt get the damn thing to open without breaking it.

we've had some get run over by vehicles and tossed around.... i mean slipped out of people's hands, etc. they usually still work, but the screen and keyboard are usually the first things to go.
