2011 CHrysler minivan info, Caravan R/T?

http://www.allpar.com/model/m/11-minivans.html

Was reading this on allpar and found this little rumor somewhat amusing.

Quote:
An R/T model might show up late in the model year, sporting, of all things, a little V8 from a Fiat company. This is an unsubstantiated rumor. Maserati currently uses a likely candidate, a 4.2 liter (259 cid) powerplant capable of 399 horsepower; it would likely be detuned down to 340-360 hp. The same engine is produced in a street legal 4.7 liter displacement for use in Maseratis (424-434 hp) and the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (444 hp). Ferrari uses a 4.3 and 4.5 liter version, pumping out up to 562 hp. Again, even if the same engine is used in a minivan, cost, chassis limitations, and other concerns would likely require considerable detuning. (A turbo Pentastar V6 would likely equal or beat the detuned V8 but is not ready yet and would not provide the marketing boost).
A Maserati powered Minivan, somehow I just don't se it happening LOL.

Someone is seriously toying with the idea of using limited engineering resources and funds on putting exotic Ferrari/Maserati flat-plane crank V8s into FWD minivan? Is there a market for that among minivan buyers?

Maybe when they're done with that, they can work on 36 inch rock crawler tires and lifted suspension for the Jeep Compass. (maybe someone can photoshop that?)

Ok, now watch knocking the compass, it is the same thing as my Patriot and it has been pretty capable LOL besides there is already a 2 inch lift kit available for them hahaha.

Back to the van, can you imagine the doubletake with that mom driven minivan full of kids that passed you sounds like a Ferrari ROFL!

I thought the Compass was the Jeep skinned version of the Caliber?

It is, but the Patriot shares the same platform as well.

Caliber/CompassPatriot are all based on the same platform, the suspennsions on the compass and Patriot are setup a bit differently though and they have their own 4WD system that lets you lock the 4x4 50/50 or with the FD2 Patriot have a low range
