Oh look, we never had a thread like this before. What gets me the most is all the people on here that start threads like this. " I was getting car service and walked across the street and test drove ________. " where I live your not test driving gt500s without the sales guy on board and most times not at all.

It's been said many times before on the many other GT500 threads, so I referenced it. As for a poor tire choice by Ford, what street tires do you recommend for a car with 500+hp that won't spin?

Not thin skinned at all. I'm actually one of those CAR enthusiasts here that likes all of the Big 3 muscle/pony cars. I just happen to own a Mustang right now. I just was pointing out something is all.

The dealers I've been to won't even let you drive one until you have been pre-approved or that you prove you have the funds available to purchase one in full. And then they have a "you wreck it, you buy it policy" in place as well. I was quite surprised they just let the OP test drive one that easily.

I hear you what you saying. That's exactly what I was taking about. I don't know what ford dealer is going to let someone take a joy ride in a GT500. It's funny that we seem to have at least one of these threads pop up every week.

Where I'm from every ford dealer that has GT500s always have them inside and roped off.

I would think they need to switch something up....i know the went to the F1 super cars.....but when its only doing a 12.8 on motor trend(and yes, i know that's because of the spin) something has got to change. A ton of power with no hook.....its sort of a waste. The Z06 has the same tires and seems to launch ok....never drove one, so that's just from what I read. My friend just ordered a 2011 gt500, so I am geeked to finally drive in one and see it move.....trust me....I would have zero problems owning or buying one.....they are sweet.....just seems like traction is more of an issue with it, than with other cars of similar caliber.

Crater Lake Ford wasnt letting ANYONE test drive the GT500 they had without a credit check, declaration of interest and proof of income.

Ford is a bit serious, and so they should, about letting such a limited production car just be take out for joy rides.

I was thinking his story was a little suspect, especially since the OP didn't mention anything about the lack of power since the supercharger doesn't kick in until the first 10 consecutive miles on GT500's and they don't let window shoppers take tire shredding joy rides in their flagship showroom car, but ive heard of crazier dealerships.

Well this one was out on the front line at my dealer. It was in the company of a 2010 GT and a trio of 2011 V6's.

They then moved it to the County Fair about two weeks later and I havent seen it since.

Seems they got 12.35 out of it and a 4.1 0-60.

Doesn't the Z06 have Pilot Sport 2 tires not Goodyears?

The sound is very impressive and I love the supercharger whine.
The camaro has it beat in the looks department.
The interior is about even.
The acceleration had the skin on my face felt like it was being pulled off. A tad bit faster than the SS.

The GT500 is an awsome car for its price but I just love Camaro's. Plus the Camaro is my DD and I dont see the GT500 being driven in the snow or even the rain for that matter.

Just had to share my experience.
Replace the Goodyear POS's and you'll still be sideways but that's what happens at nearly 500HP at the wheels and you get on the throttle.

I had the same problem in my 07 GT500 and I'm sure people have the same problem with their modded SS's.

Does it actually put 500 down to the wheels? I have no clue....just wondering.....I figured since its rated 550 at the crank....it would be more like 450 to 475 at the wheels....again....not sure, just what I would figure.

2010 and 2011 GT500's put down on average between 480 and 495 RWHP
