I hate to say it but having been a big fan theres only so may plotlines and anomalies etc for a weekly show. It was evident in "Voyager" and "Enterprise" where they ended up recycling a lot of plots, which turned off viewers.

I personally am very happy about that, I would rather get one GREAT movie every couple years, than a half baked TV series that beats the Borg/Kardassians/Romulans/whoever else to death again.

Better effects in the movies too...

That's great! It seriously killed it for me when I saw the newest TV series. Terrible

Couldn't agree more. I also think that out of the entire expanse of space, all of the species seem soo similar it's ridiculous. When I saw voyagers episodes with species 84something something 2, I was like, Awesome! A species that is actually different. I seriously think those few episodes alone could have been a movie.

Yeah, better effects and graphics should always be at their peak in a star trek movie IMO. I view Star Trek as a kind of "Premium" viewing experience, so I would expect top notch quality. Nothing less.

I disagree. I think after Star Trek 3 in 2014-2015 it would have been more than 10 years since the last show and it would be perfect timing to introduce a new WELL DONE TV show. If it was done right with the right people it would work.

Indeed. It would overflow it. One nacelle alone would be over 400m (> 1300 ft).

I just happen to watch the latest movie last night and realized why they were in Iowa for Kirk to be so close to where they building those things, vast miles of un populated flat ground.

Dunno why it never clicked before.

My parents and I noticed that too the second time watching it -- there's really no other purpose for Iowa anyway so....

Red face

*puts on dork hat*

but in the 60s show the Enterprise was built in san fran near where starfleet headquarters was. but i am sure they did not build the whole ship but sections of it and had it assembled in space. as much as i loved the new movie the 'new' ship is SO big how the hell did they get it off of the planet's surface? also the 60s enterprise and the 'refit' in the move were only about 300 feet long end to end, and the Enterprise D was over 1000 feet long (you could place both the old enterprise within the diameter of the 'D' saucer section .

Its a new time line, that's why.

Think back to the future after Biff stole the time machine.
