41K for a new mustang and it didn't have HIDs.. sounds like it had about every other option offered.. why did they not go ahead and do the HIDs.. that is an odd option pkg.

Exactly man. I've never purchased a brand new car worthy of upgrading at the dealer. Does the grouping on option packages vary from dealer to dealer?

No, generally the dealer add-ons are either shipped with the car or are mailed at the same time.

Ah okay, thanks man! I was trying to phrase that in a way to where I didn't sound ignorant. I guess I am though when it comes to buying a new car.

If it had stick on side scoops then it had the California Special which is a rare $2,000 optional package which includes

* Unique side stripes
* Unique lower fascia with fog lamps
* 19-inch argent painted machined aluminum wheels
* Unique decklid badge
* Unique instrument panel appliqué finish
* Unique door panel Carbon inserts
* Unique front and rear leather seats with Carbon inserts
* Premium carpeted front floor mats with embroidered logo
* Rear diffuser-style lower fascia
* Pedestal decklid spoiler
* Decklid tape appliqué

I've heard the SS ground affects are factory shipped and applied at the dealer and they also said they won't be under warranty if you paint them. Now that's messed up! Not to mention the price is out of this world.

I didn't notice the Unique door panel Carbon inserts or Unique front and rear leather seats with Carbon inserts. Doen't mean they're not there.

The Cal. Edition and an automatic tranny would explain the cost diff. Tranny's gotta be about $1000.

Back when I was looking at buying a SS I knew id have to get the ground effects and then get them painted for about $3k more and the 21" were another $3k+ all on top of a $38k SS is why I jumped ship.

Toyota man. If you are going to compare prices, you really gotta look at every option listed on the factory build sheet AND the DEALER INSTALLED OPTION sheet which is separate from the big window sheet. Sounds like you just took a glimpse of the MSRP $$ and not bothered looking at why it was at that price. You can build the Camaro to way over $42k...start with a 2SS/RS, Automatic, stripes, GFX, sunroof, and 21" wheels then ask your twin to look at the MSRP (not bother looking at why) and he might say WHOA, the Mustang is a better value.
just sayin..
