2011 Ford 5.0L (Coyote) Crate engine on sale...$6,999

If you’re feeling a little blue because you bought a 2010 Mustang with the now-dropped 4.6-liter V8, you’re in luck. The 5.0-liter “Coyote” V8 that recently debuted in the 2011 Ford Mustang GT will go on sale later this month as a crate motor.

For $6,999, Ford Racing will be happy to sell a crate 5.0 as part number M-6007-M50. Rated at the same 412 ponies and 390 lb-ft. of torque as the 5.0 in the 2011 Mustang GT, the V8 weighs a reasonable 444 lbs.

Interested buyers can place an order at any Ford dealership in the U.S. for deliveries beginning August 15.

thats pretty cool, i can see a LOT of people wanting to put these in the 05-09 mustang, or maybe even the old-school 5.0 body style (though i personally don't see why anyone would want that box)

If my engine were to be damaged in some sort of insurable loss, I would probably spring for the additional cost to upgrade to this engine (if it is an easy conversion.)

That engine in a roughly 3000 pound car would be a total beast!

I would love to find a 88-93 notch to throw the new 5.0 in.

I've been thinking this engine would be great in one of the Factory Five Racing Cobra kits..

This is going to be huge in street rods--like all the LS1s you see now.

Nice to see Ford finally caught up...13 years after the LS

You have been able to buy a DOHC crate 5.0 with 420hp from Ford for years.
