It's not just a slow internet... Part of the problem is the computer... My parents have so much CRAP on this damn thing, that the computer itself runs slow as all hell... And I can't seem to get them to buy a wireless router so I can use my laptop! I mean, threads with pictures, even just a few, the pics take a full minute to load, but if its the 'rando picture association thread' all of the pics don't even load!!! It is truly SAD!!!! WHen I was at school, before I could even scroll down to the bottom on my computer all the pics were loaded!!! SUCH a down grade!!!

That sucks, granted your basing it off of your schools internet which should blisteringly fast, that's still pretty slow. They are not using dial up are they. I can never make the move back to dial up. I actually gave up satellite TV for my high speed internet, it's more worth it in the long run.

No, its not dial-up, but its sbc, or att, or whoever owns it today's, 'highspeed' internet that is run through the phone line rather than a cable connection... so its the low end of the totum pole of the 'highspeed' internets... but like I said, one of the bigger problems is the computer, because when I plug in my laptop to it, its not AS bad, but its still pretty bad... and I know, my school is prolly on at least a T1 line, if not a faster connection...

SBC bought ATT and Bellsouth and butchered them to hell. They migrated networks to save money.

I have ATT (Bellsouth) Extreme 6.0 DSL, and last night it was pulling 384K! I'm paying for 6000K!

It was great before SBC butchered it. I may switch all my telecom to cable, but Comcast sucks the big one too.

After hurricane Wilma, we had no electricity for about 7 weeks, and it it took Comcrap, 3 MONTHS to restore service to our area.

I just did a bandwidth test - http://www.speed.fastaccess.com/, and got 5.2 Mbps or 5200K. Ripping fast! But later, may be 200k. Crap network, crap LEC...crap, crap, crappity, crap.

Welcome back Dave!

I used to be on forums for 8 months of a year with a laptop and wireless internet, then go away over the summer because of dialup at home. We now have highspeed, but not really. An upgrade is required.

That's too bad Tony. Maybe offload that hard drive to some cd's or dvd's, or even an external harddrive. Avast is a free anti-virus service you can use.

Mine is free, well sorta. Me and my best friend live right beside each other. I just steal his internet, and in return we feed him every now and then. Works out.
