All I have to say is that based on this threads responses, it seems to be that most people who have a PS3 have it for blu ray, and most people that have xbox360 have it for gaming and online stuff.

Wow, so far the results are a lot closer than what i thought they would be, I was expecting a slaughter in favor of Xbox.

Also PS3 has better graphics and plays in full HD. Also PS3 is more durable (trust me i got to routy boys) Also PS3 has impeccable japenese reliablility. Ive never had a problem with my PS3. And ive heard many horror stories with the Xbox's "red ring of death". kudos Sony

The ps3's blue ray player is inferior , you can buy a better blue ray player for 199 that has much better picture quality , stand alone players have always been better just look at the ps2 the dvd player in it sucked as well , the ps3 controller sucks compared to the 360's which has triggers , plus it feels flimsy , durability? my ps2 broke down 3 times , ps3 are breaking down as well , the red ring of death is something of the past and has been addressed . XBOX LIVE is much superior to ps3 and is worth the small annual price, ps3 doesn't have FORZA 2 , HALO 3 , OR GEARS OF WAR 2 , plus it's a North American product which we all should support in these tough economic times, enough said

This means that when comparing the 2 systems the only things you should really be comparing are the 1st party games and the hardware. Sony constantly makes real good 1st party games where as MS's 1st party games are hit or miss (mostly miss) and most of the good MS 1st party games are shooters (which I'm not that big of a fan of).

The PS3 has a much higher graphic and processing potential then the 360 (which hasn't been fully tapped into yet. Hideo Kojima even made a comment about wishing he knew about earlier as he would have done a better job on MGS:4!). I've been hearing from numerous sources that Sony currently is working on increasing the Blue-ray disk space and is even working on a 400gb Blue-ray Disk, if this is true, the 360 can not compete with this until the next Xbox then they will have to pay Sony royalties to use the Blue-ray disk reader. And lets not forget Sony has designed and has said that the PS3 is a 10 year system. The PS3 is what 2-3 years old, so then the PS3 still has 7-8 years before Sony starts work on the PS4. MS already has designs on the table for the next Xbox so if you buy a 360 now, you'll have 2-3 years before you have to buy the new system as MS will stop all work and development on any 360 games when the next Xbox is close to be released.

Not true , the next XBOX will use solid state hard drives and memory sticks for games , this is already in development with way more storage capacity than blue ray, solid state tech has no moving parts so it is much more durable and reliable, blue ray is already OLD TECH and will be obsolete as this new technology emerges , all pc's will be switching to it as well

This tech is already out and while it can have up to a 250 gig capacity, the sticks runs up to $800 and hard drives are in the thousands depending on what capacity you get. A stick with the same capacity as a blue-ray disk costs $200. From a cost stand point solid state hard drives and memory sticks is not economical at all for a gaming system (unless you feel like spending well over a grand on a new gaming system and $150-$200 for a game) and with higher capacity Blue-ray disks (as much as 400 gigs) in the works, become even less so. Sorry but this "old tech" has the "new tech" beat until the costs come WAY down which probably won't happen till it's time for the PS4 to go into production and most definitely will not happen in time for the next Xbox.

While I do agree that solid state is the future, it's not the immediate future.

Prices will come down on this new invention when blue ray came out (only a couple of years ago)the players were 2000$ now you can buy one for 199.00 and next year they will be 99.00 and so on ,by the time the NEW XBOX 720 comes out it should have solid state ready to go at a cheap price and kill the PS3 or PS4 , then blue ray disks will be used as WIND CHIME'S
