An unfortunate truth

I sort of think that could work the other way also.

You can call it shady if you want. The dealer will find people willing to pay to be the first ones with the new technology.

Have you ever been on ebay and seen $300 items sell for $600? Happens all the time.

I also doubt anyone driving a Camaro would even consider a Volt.

You COULD pay $15,000 over, but I'd have to throw in a Cobalt too

I'd consider a Volt. It's really a remarkable car. I would, however, fall out of my chair laughing if a salesperson told me to pay $20k over sticker.

Sorry I had to stop short. My thought was that I don't really see BMW, Z06 or even just base corvette guys or any one in that price range looking to buy a Volt either. In regard to this $20,000 overage.

I looked for one as well, but they sell very quickly! You'll definitely have to look on AutoTrader/Ebay and buy one out of town (usually far from town lol).

I'm a little ahead of myself... The next car is a graduation present for my wife. So that's about a year away...

But I think a Volt would fit nicely....

Or a Z28???

I gotta say, just like I said in early 2009 when there were dealers asking up to 10k over for the first Camaros, I have no problem with it. Nobody is forced to buy it.

I promise you, if I could sell dirt from my yard to people who were willing to buy it, I'd sell it. People don't have to buy it.

I'm on the dealers side here. At least they aren't hiding it. They are being ethical about it. Straight up, you want one, msrp is this, we want this ;lus 20k. Take it or leave it. Beauty of it all, the dealer down the street can sell them for only 5 or 10 over msrp and sell a ton. UNLESS, they dealer across town will sell them for right at msrp. It could be argued, in this situation, that if the dealer across town sold all of his first, and for right at msrp, he is a moron. If all of them got to sell 10 in a given time, and the other dealers average selling theirs for 5k over, then dealer across town just lost 50 thousand dollars. Probably about 150% of his profit.

I agree with all of you. I'm not paying that much over msrp for much of anything.

I will say this though......... If it meant having to wait for a year or two, I'd have paid 5k over msrp for my current car.

Oh, ya, I got some dirt for sale, just PM me for pricing.

But the best thing of all, no one forces you to spend your money at dealerships that charge over MSRP.
Scotty, that is awesome 32+ years and not a single vehicle sold over MSRP. Too bad other dealerships don't follow your lead. You are a Class Act my friend.

You keepa rollin.... Lori

That's what I've been trying to say.

Well, except for the dirt part. Although If you want some I bet I can undercut PQ. Dirts probably a bad example PQ seeing how they really do sell dirt.
