Not too bad. Looks kinda 90's to me... Still lacking personality. But definitely glad they got away from that same bland design they've been using on every single car.....

You're so right..absolutely no redesign there. They are totally the same interior right down to the gauge cluster! OMG!

90's interior? sub-par? Not a redesign?

I get that you're negative, but I didnt think you were blind too.

Kinda' retro - it's okay. It's not really my cup of tea, but I certainly don't not like it. There's just like no depth to it or something; I don't know.

I don't know if an 8-speed tranny is that necessary, too.

It looks like a truck interior to me. Maybe they're leaving the Ram on the wheel because it is going to be a 4x4.

The reason for the 8 speed is because the Benz unit is costly to build and royalties have to be paid to Daimler each time it is produced. The ZF unit not only is more capable (it is essentially the same transmission thats behind the AMG's and high power BMW's) but it also will improve performance over the current NAG-1 transmission found in the Charger R/T/Challenger R/T and SRT8's.

Either 6 speed gears and a pair of overdrives or 7 speed gears and a overdrive..either way..I'm happy.

Deffinetely don't mind the merits of an 8 speed...it will happen market-wide eventually. Any ideas as to how much weight an eight speed adds over a 5/6speed?

I hope that is all it adds... I thought it might add a lot more weight. I am definitely looking forward to the pairing of the new 6.4L Hemi MDS engine with the 8 Speed ZF transmission!

BTW, someone said on another forum that just the royalty fees Chrysler pays on each of the current 5 Speed Automatics to Daimler is $250...

That didn't stop Cerberus from trying to get the last few drops out of 'em ...

Yep, which is why both companies are on my "never do business with" list.

I'm glad to see the Challenger/Charger getting updated interiors and a styling refresh. I love the Challenger, but the 3.5 is underpowered and that old interior screams "rental fleet". Now, if maybe they could find a way to get a couple more guages in the cluster? Four guages on a muscle car isn't enough.

I very much disagree on the rental fleet interior comment especially in R/T and SRT guise. As for guages, besides the tach/speedo/fuel guages, most are just overcomplicated idiot lights in the way they work these days anyways so WHY would you want to make it more overwrought and complicated? there is a LOT to be said about a clean well laid out and simple design and the fact they use pretty damned good materials in the CHallenger is just the icing on the cake. As for the 3.5, agreed, that is why it is getting ditched for the new Pentastar V6 next year.
