Ummm ... no.

If they're going somewhere to be seen yeah they'll probably take a limo. But the rest of the time most of them just drive their own vehicle. Same with musicians. You'd have to be pretty full of yourself to show up on set everyday in a limo.

There are tons of government jobs where you have no hope of flying to and from Washington unless you are accompanying someone more senior. Most bureaucrats don't get paid that well, or are considered important enough.

Weren't there are bunch of actors a few months back that purchased Camaros? Were they D-listers?

So, let me ask this question. If the car is intended for commuters, which in most cases indicates people living in/near metropolitan areas, how will those who live in apartments, or who do not have a garage, recharge their cars each night?

Apartments would be difficult, though some do have charging stations. But you can recharge it in your driveway, for some it would be a lot like plugging in a engine block heater.

Rush Limbaugh made a big stink too.

Keep in mind, the Volt isn't the best EV in all cases. If you have electric charging infrastructure at home AND at work AND live in a temperate climate AND have no hills to climb on your commute AND you never want to take your car on a weekend "up North" or drive on vacation, the Leaf may be a better choice. But if want an EV with a lot more flexibilty, the Volt will absolutely be the better choice. So it will be hard to say the Volt is a better EV, but for many people it will be a far more practical choice.

Clinic results continue to show that range anxiety is the Number 1 reason people fear pure EVs. I'm sure you'll see this played up in upcoming advertising.

I had been thinking about how they would advertise. There are so many angles marketing could come from.

Am I the only one that wants to see an ad campaign based on this:

Why do people keep calling the Volt an EV when its not. It's a electric/gas hybrid. Yes it can go 40 miles on battery power alone, but it still has a gasoline-powered secondary engine.

I don't know either. 2 power sources = hybrid to me.

No mechanical linkage from the gasoline engine to the drive wheels is why most people don't classify it as a hybrid.

Define what a hybrid is

Vehicles where both the internal combustion engine and the electric motor transmit power to the drivetrain are known a parallel hybrids.

Vehicles where only the electric motor transmits power to the drivetrain but has an ICE acting as a gererator, are known a series hybrids.

Both types of cars are hybrids. Thus, the Volts is a HEV not an EV.

The Volt is a series hybrid with constantly electrically driven wheels, or a Extended-Range Electric Vehicle. We can disagree...but not deny the company's designation.
