End of The World?

Whats up with so many people making such hoopla about the year 2012, they say suppossably that on december 21 2012 at 12:21am the world is going to end. I have heard it everywhere work, school, at home, and at a party they are even making a movie out of it, i saw the preview of it just yesterday. Why are people making such a big deal out of that year? They say it has to do with the mayan calender, and the dates stop in 2012 december 21st, and that supposably its true becuase they invented the calendar. I have also been told that it is a scientific theory, but i haven't done research.
Here is the movie

.

I think its a load of

Yep... and everyone's computer world was going to end in Y2K.
I don't think that the Mayans ever meant that the world was going to end then.
A new phase of the world was supposed to start.
For every end there is a new begining.
I actually think that we have already started that new phase. Look at how much the world has changed with the invention of the microchip.

just saying that the world will end on that date doesnt do anything but take any scrap of possible credibility that they might have had.

there's been a few movies of it already that have different reasons, volcanoes, aliens, etc.

but one of the main reasons for that date is the fact that that will be the winter equinox and it just so happens that the earth will be perfectly aligned with the center of the galaxy (which happens every 26,500 years or so), and is supposed to end the "4th" age and begin the 5th age.

then there's the planet Nibiru that is hurtling towards Earth's orbit this very minute... and a few other theories out there

then there's my personal one....

My theory is this. Even if they are correct, one on Earth am I going to do about it? Like Spike just said, how does one prepare for the end of the world?

Just so long as I get to drive a Camaro before I die, I guess. (That would be a gross understatement, as much as I love our cars...it's far from the top of my to-do list).

i've never even heard this. Spike's theory about the *** sounds possible... but GM couldn't do that to themselves.

The world will end at some point. Might as well be 12:21 on 12/21/2012.
