Hi jack alert!!!!!!!!!!Track, track, track, track, I thank there are a lot of people who are tired of all the 2011 5.0 dyno's this and runs that. Like I started this thread off track day SS vs GT same day same track REAL CAR OWNERS no slanted magazine test or shop cars let the stripe tell the story.

Either way....I feel cheated.

I had my MT SS dynoed on a Mustand Dyno...and I got 358.7RWHP.
i see, very interesting info!!

They could of gotten a lot better mph on the GT500. Mine runs 118's consistently hot lapping it in the summer.

Just wait until Evan Smith gets a hold of one at E-town.
I heard he was also going to run an SS just to show us that it's all driver.

GT500 is one freakin sweet ride but the one thing I can't get passed is the damn rear end. It looks like someone took richard simmons and mated him with a 400lb wadling chick.

I think your post was uncalled for since I didn't boast about my personal car and didn't say the old 4.6 couldn't make the power to keep up with the all mighty LS series, it's just the fact that you choose a old car that hardly anybody is going to modify. Its a 1 year only car which most are still sitting on dealer lots and a car that should of never been made. Your dreaming if you think if or maybe when the 4.6L GT looses to the LS3 just about everyone's complaint about the test is the lack of the 5.0L and now I get called out to a race because of stating a fact about the foreseeable future. I accept your apology though, its all good in my book
Everyone's complaint or everyone's excuse?

The Saleen / Pedders R & D Mustang doesn't need any excuses. This is a car that is more powerful and faster than the production Saleen. We have addressed the smallest details down to placing the battery in the trunk for improved weight distribution. The Saleen / Pedders R & D car doesn't have to hide from ANY car on the track including the new Mustang. We already know what the new Mustang runs at Gingerman and the Saleen / Pedders R & D car would be in the pits before a new 5.0 Mustang completed a standard 20 lap event.

You have this idea of fairness. There is no fairness in a race. When you go to war you go with the army and the equipment you have and not the army or equipment you hope you have. Racing is no different. It takes time to get your race car systems dialed in. When you race you win or you lose. Sure the new Mustang has a new motor. Next year the Camatro will have a new motor in the Z28. Should we wait two years to hold the event? No that wouldn't work because by the time we sorted out everything to make the new engines and models Supercars it would be three years. We are not comparing showroom cars. We are comparing Supercars. Neither the Pedders Camaro or the Saleen needs any kind of excuse. We already know the cars were separated by 2/100s of a second the last time we tested.

They are a DEAD NUTS EVEN MATCH. Both cars had braking issues as the performance on track exceeded the operating thermal range of the pads. Both cars will be running custom made Cobalt Friction racing pads this time around. Problem solved. Both cars lost a bit of power over IATs. We have worked on thermal management with both. The Mustang will have a tweaked sway bar ratio, improved balance with revisions in corner weighting and a ever so slightly revised sway bar ratio. I have informed both Ford and GM that I do not know which car will be faster. We will know when we run them and not before.

After all this, the base production specifications do not matter. Our head to head run will not resolve the Mustang Camaro debate. These are both SUPERCARS. The winner will be the best MODIFIED Camaro or Mustang.

We're never sure of test results obtained on the road. We don't know a lot about the tester the carmaker sent us away with. Are the tires fresh, or have they been heat-cycled 100 times, and getting old, hard, and slow? Was the car broken in properly or at the hands of a bunch of mad journos attacking a racetrack for the first time? Even though Carlos is a solid, consistent tester, we wanted another crack at the new 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang on our own test track, using our regular gear, etc. So we did it. And found a pinch and an inch here and there, but nothing overwhelming.

In summary, MT resident road tester and hot-shoe Scott Mortara got the 0-60 down to 4.1 seconds and peeled off consistent quarter-mile runs of 12.35 seconds at 115.75 mph. Grip? Yeah, we got grip. The new tires really are better: 1.01g average on the skid. Braking virtually identical at around 103 feet from 60 mph. With slicks, this 3800-pound musclemaker would run well under four seconds to 60. All friggidy day.

that's still pretty sad numbers IMO

Evan Smith will run 11s in the 2011, as he did with the 2010 GT500.

Great idea, but good luck, most of the Mustang guys on the forum are just internet racers.

I think the ultimate showdown would be nhra stocker vs. Bob Cosby (if he ends up getting a 5.0).

Then an official winner could be named, the argument would be over, and Mustang and Camaro owners could drive off into the sunset together and become one.
