Talking an 'electric' supercharger?

I was talking to my buddy who has a toytota corolla, and he told me he planned on supercharging it, but with an electric one (not belt driven). I have never heard of such a thing, and he sent me a link:

http://www.performancechiptuning.com...PSI+Vortex/10/

I had to laugh, anybody who buys this is gonna be pissing away 200 bucks, and the video of the 'fan' from the blower knocking over a piece of wood and making a bunch of rolls of scotch tape side by side roll made me . it to me is like the "tornado" all over again, what do you guys think?

Youtube used to have some videos of a true leaf blower being used as a supercharger during dyno runs. Seemed to add hp on the dyno at least. So on this unique pos how does it not clog up in the intake with the fan blades and reduce hp when it's not powered on?

maybe everyone on the forum should donate 50 cents, buy one of these, and a day at the dyno then i can test it on my car.

Someone posted that last night. A few replies said something about someone putting one on their Camaro, and having the blades break and get sucked into the engine.

lol this always makes me laugh. Believe it or not, it will get you SOME extra power. I've seen guys do it on like a derby car or something where they had a leaf blower on the passenger seat and ran the piping through the dash with a hole saw into the intake haha the problem is the leaf blower will only build up so much pressure, not really enough to make a big difference like a roots or procharger.

but I LOL nonetheless

There's no way that thing will flow enough to even match stock flow. You will lose power and probably a lot of it. At WOT, there is quite a bit of vacuum literally pulling air into the combustion chamber on the intake stroke. If you think that this little fan can create more pressure, you have no idea what you're doing and have no business driving a car, but especially turning wrenches on it. Tell him he should just cut a hole in the floor and get some nice Nikes.

Match it with a turbo whistle and that's some serious horsepower.

haha, I think I got one of those little whistles somewhere... I should put it in my intake in front of the filter and see if it whistles... I could make people believe I'm turbo'ed
