That vehicle is designed only to be tested on the salt flats in Utah. Judging by the 135,000 claimed HP, I'd imagine it has a jet or rocket engine, and judging by it's body design, probably has a 200 ft. diameter turning circle. Pony car? Hardly. I don't even think car is a suitable term.

Put a supercharger on it and we could be looking at 200k hp.

I guess the thread title was chosen for more views because this has nothing at all in common with any Pony car.

Pony cars can handle reasonably well ... the steering wheel in that car is meant to keep it pointed straight.

Actually, it has a jet engine and a rocket engine. It also has an 800 hp V12 engine to run things like fuel pumps.

+ 2 - I'd imagine he may have to wear a pressure suit like the fighter pilots wear to keep the blood from draining out of his brain during the run.

This I doubt; oxygen yes. But if he's pulling straight line acceleration I think he wouldn't be be pulling more than 2G max. It's the deceleration that could kill him and a G suit can't really protect against that as well as it can protect against positive G-LOC. I don't even think he wore a G Suit in the Thrust SSC runs.

EDIT: I stand corrected. After looking up the car his acceleration will probably exceed 2.5G making a G Suit a requirement. The braking system on the car is insane as well, generating probably 3G.

That boy's gonna need a suit for sure. From Wikipedia

"The task of driving the vehicle will fall to the land speed record holder Wing Commander Green, who will lie feet-first in the BLOODHOUND. As the car accelerates from 0-1,050 mph in 42 seconds, he will experience a force of 2.5g (two and a half times his bodyweight) and the blood will rush to his head.

To slow down, airbrakes will deploy at 800 mph (1,300 km/h) and parachutes at 600 mph (970 km/h). As he decelerates, experiencing forces of up to 3g, the blood will drain to his feet and he could black out. He will practice for this in a stunt aircraft, flying upside-down over the British countryside."

I wonder why they couldn't use a PASG for this. Pneumatic-Anti-Shock-Garment. Its basically a big pair of pants that inflates like a blood pressure cuff. They could artificially elevate his blood pressure in the upper half of his body, which would fight the tendency to pass out on deceleration. I mean, it wouldn't have to be much. Just increase the blood pressure 10-20 mmHg or so.

Going 1000mph in a giant pencil with wheels is not my idea of a good time.
