Awesome car. What color combo are you getting? Are you going with the SVT performance package?

I saw a black one with the ghost stripes...sick

However, they know my situation so they will delay actual production as late as possible with an estimated delivery time in late Sep. They don't mind me filling out the paperwork in October. They will allow me a 180 day no payment plan so I will only have to start paying in April 2011.

The other option is to buy a 2012 which I can order as early as Feb 2011. But that means I will only get the car late April or May at the earliest. I doubt it though. It will take some time to ramp up production, fulfill backorders etc. so I will likely only be able to receive a 2012 car in June at the earliest. So since I've already waited so long for the car, I'd rather get the 2011 and drive it as soon as the snow melts rather than wait for June.

I almost missed my opportunity, it was only by chance that I called them up with a few more questions. I had assumed I would still be able to order an SVT product in Jan 2011, which was my original plan. But then they told me that the window for ordering the 2011 closes in a month, so I had to make a quick decision about it.

And far from my wife having my balls in a vice, it's quite the opposite compared with other married folks. No other married guy I know has a wife who would allow them to own a car "just for fun". Most of my peers are in a "practical mode" and will only contemplate purchases that directly benefit the family.
understood. And yes, you are a lucky man. Well, I guess we'll have to wait 5 months for the "My Shelby GT500 is finally home!!!" photos.

Like the GTO SK360 thats a solid car. I test drove it and loved every minute, can't really explain why i bought a luxury car instead...that car was being sold at 27k plus TTL at 0% when I went to drive it..was one of the last GTOs left in 07 that was still a new 06. I think it's one of the BEST muscle cars to come out in a long time, best looking.

Camaros still turn more heads than mustangs. The GT500 is a nice car, just not as 'pretty'...to make it stand out Graber blue w/ orange stripes.

This may sound dumb or maybe I'm just too old but I like not turning heads. I'd rather not get the attention, just drive the nice car for myself!

I agree. I don't like being conspicuous. The Shelby is perfect for me because it's nice enough to be admired, but at the same time it won't stand out like an Aztek at a Ferrari car meet. Conspicuous cars tend to attract juvenile deliquents, whereas I prefer to attract the enthusiast.

I couldn't live with myself driving around in a Lambo or a Ferrari. People will look at you and envy you, and I'm not comfortable with that. You'd alienate yourself from "real" people and up being friends with douches who wear Abercrombie and Finch.
