Yep

Gotta remember, too -- all this development was before the crap hit the fan.

Trucks were selling outrageously well, and they knew gas was going up, just not when...so they all partnered up with a plan to release hybrid trucks and make a killing while companies like toyota, at the time, was breaking even on prii. Good decision or not....it's a killer system. I'd love to see it miniaturized so as to forgo the towing requirements and installed on a car.

Well, I think it's great for the full-size trucks and SUV's....

You don't see it in the work trucks because their duties would just waste the system, so why bother. But, in the more "average joe" 1500 series, it's a great idea. I hope they improve it to get more miles on the electric part and even better mpg....I already think GM makes the best looking trucks...and they do already get the best mpg, so if they could make them the most technologically advanced ones too, all the better.

Plus, what they learn from doing it on trucks can easily be used to do even more on cars.

There were plans to make a 2 mode Saturn Vue but then Saturn was killed so the project stalled. There was talk of making it into a Buick (commonly called the 'Vuick') but that idea was at least shelved and possibly killed off altogether.

I thought it was killed in favor of a hybrid Buick car. Similar to a Fusion-type deal, for all the reasons we're discussing here.

my 2010 silvy 5.3 with the 6speed auto gets 15 mpg's babying it, and it's my DD. ****s with it haha.

but the mpg's on a big lug of a truck like that is great, and it'll still do what every other truck will do, the mpg's may go down, but how many times are you going to tow something that takes it out of hybrid mode unless you tow for a living. i mean really??
