This is why I consider the volt an electric vehicle and not a hybrid. Technically, you could run the volt without ever putting a drop of gas into it.

Exactly my point. When you hear hybrid, you think Pious ... err Prius. Call the Volt a hybrid, and kick Toyota in the teeth. Besides, if you call it an EV it gets compared to the Nissan Leaf, which the Volt still out classes in pretty much every dimension. I say go for the big dog and make it your bitch.

If it has a gas engine, it can't be an electric vehicle. If it has 2 power sources, its a hybrid. I don't care if its a gas-electric, fuel cell, solar-electric ... they're all hybrids. An EV is powered solely by the electric grid via batteries. You can drive the Volt forever without plugging it in once (it would be a dumb idea, but you could do it). Doesn't sound like an EV to me.

Whats so interesting about this black and white aerial shot of a suburban neighbourhood?

Well, for one thing its not a suburban neighbourhood ...

Its a Lockheed plant during WWII, camo'd in case of a Japanese attack on the mainland. Go here for more info.
