My friend's ps3's wifi spikes every 5 seconds and it's 3 feet from the router. My xbox was 5 feet from my router with the 100 dollar adapter and you couldn't play halo. It's maddening.

Liquid, care to play halo?

do you think this has to do with connection? or are all the wi-fi systems wack

because either way i was planning on doing a wireless adapter..

I'm not quite sure. Up until my most recent move to my burlingame apartment, wifi for anything has sucked terribly. Since I moved into my apartment, the difference of wireless cable for internet gaming in my computer is just as liquidfire says. Hardly any lag (maybe a spike here or there every few hours for no more than 5-10 seconds).

However, my xbox experience with the wireless adapters has not changed. I will never play xbox on wireless unless they send me a new adapter for free so that I can experience it working correctly for a month, then I'd buy it.

My friend brought his PS3 over to play rockband and some other games online and the wifi was just as bad. Both systems went through the same router that I have my computer going through, and my router sits next to my tv while my computer is some 10 feet away. If there is interference of the signal from it being close to the tv, I would think that my computer would be affected also. The wifi from his house is just as bad and he has a completely seperate isp, so it's not comcast cable's problem either.

Maybe liquid has an exception to the rule, but both my xbox and adapter were most likely the newest models as I got my 360 at the end of september last year (Right before the launch of halo 3.

I'll add you liquid. I haven't played halo since I got the katana (all legit except for spartan laser achievement). XBL is Dope Chops. Never picked up CoD. I was playing assassin's creed at that time.

My current games are:

Fable 2
Midnight club: LA
World of Warcraft
Super Street Fighter II HD Remix

Waiting till my bro gets it. He's waiting for me to get GTA4 so we can smash online. I'm still waiting for my joystick case to be mailed to me so I can play with an actual stick as opposed to a pad. Not a pad player...

better online play
more selection of games
XBL is easier to navigate than PSN, well before their new stupid update, i prefer the old XBL layout
more things are free on XBL, but you have to pay the yearly fee
downloads can continue after shutting down the system
recently added netflicks to XBL
play and charger kit still charges with system shut down
controller is better suited to FPS
cooling fans are loud
must have wired connection to internet or buy wireless adaptor
must buy an Elite for hdmi connections (i believe)
achievements

PS3-
smaller selection of games and most are multiplatform
personally i think it has better graphics, but that comes down to connections, tv, preference
Blu-ray
free PSN, but downloads seem to cost more
system must be on to download and charge controller
most games install onto the hard drive, its annoying at first, but cuts down on in-game loading
built-in Wi-Fi, or wired connection
hard drive is the same as a laptop hard drive, easy to upgrade space
main menu is too cluttered for my taste
i prefer the PS controller feel to the 360's

in the end, i think the ps3 is the better system, but xbox has more games and an easier to use interface
You forgot the red ring of death problem that over 40% of X-Box 360's will eventually face due to a known flaw in the systems before launch that is still not even 75% fixed after all these years. My best friend has gone thru 6 360's that all overheated and got the RRR and he had each very well ventilated as he is an AV enthusiast. He has had 2 Elite systems get the RRR so I guess the problem is getting better . Both our PS3's we got at launch are still working today and I believe the failure rate is very low (in the 5% range) for PS3's throughout its life cycle.

I agree that X-box live is way way better than the PS3's current free system (you get what you pay for). However the Ps3's keeps improving and the graphic quality and speed of loading in games is quicker. I recommend the Ps3 as you will have less headaches and it has the added benefit of being an excellent Blu-ray player which I use on a daily basis since launch and is still ticking..

I have both systems for different reasons..

360- If I want great games, an excellent line of downloadable games, plenty of online play I go with the 360. The online service for XBOX called XBOX LIVE has a charge based on different plans (pay by month(s) or year) and there are more online gamers on 360 for such games as Gears of War 2, GTA4, Call of Duty, etc..
If you do decide to go with the 360, I'd get the Elite and not mess around with pricing. Far better system with an HDMI input and better internal cooling. I have one of the first series of 360's that had the 3 red rings of death and the faulty drive that scratched games but XBOX took care of the problem 3 times by sending me 3 different systems. Friend has had his Elite with no problems yet. Great wireless controller

PS3-I wanted blu-ray for our flat screen and it was amongst the cheapest players at the time. The online gameplay is okay. The browser on the PS3 is slow and sometimes won't display pages well. It'll display camaro5.com pretty good. Pretty reliable system, no problems except for the online browser freezing. Controller is wireless and a bit awkward in feel but a good aftermarket helps. Smooth graphics.

In my opinion get the 360, you'll be ultimately happier if you are a true gamer that likes to play awesome games

The Blu-Ray player sucks in the PS3 everyone knows that STAND ALONE players are much better and produce improved images vs a built in type , I have a XBOX ELITE and I love it the controller is way better than the ps3 because it has triggers which are good for RACING GAMES LIKE FORZA 2 etc, or a wireless steering wheel is available too. The Elite just looks damn cool with it's black casing and it has a 120Gb hard drive same size as the ps3 , but if your on a budget you can get the XBOX Arcade version it's only 199 here in Canada even cheaper in the US and you can add a hard drive later, both systems have lots of games but only XBOX has GEARS OF WAR , HALO , and the FORZA FRANCHISE all of which are top notch hope this info helps , oh and try FALLOUT 3 that game ROCKS it's kind of like MAD MAX
