I don't have either console, no have ever played on one yet, But,
I apparently am the only one on this site that will buy a console only to play metal gear. It's gonna be PS3 for me, by default, I like halo but it is no match for me when i got unreal tournament on my PC. I bought my PS1 just to play metal gear. I bought my PS2 to play metal gear, and i will buy the PS3 to play metal gear. I don't play online so I could care less about that. The graphics are supposedly the best, and Blu-ray was the best from day one. I new HD-DVD would die. The console is as big as my house, but you know...bigger is better right. All in all, I will be getting the PS3 For essentially only one reason. What can i say, I LOVE METAL GEAR! |

Pros:
XB360: Better performance of the hardware MUCH better online interaction (support is great) Halo, Borderlands Controller is more ergonomic Achievement system > PSN, especially with the new netflix affiliation and others. Price (Elite is paying for a name and black skin. Save the 100 bucks and buy 2 games or an extra controller) Backwards compatibility (can play any original xbox game) PS3: Potential has not yet been reached by gavme developers Final Fantasy XII Blu Ray player Cons: Xbox360: 50 dollars annual subscription to XBL Gold (silver means you just can't play against friends online) PS3: Sub-par online experience controller gives you arthritis/carpal tunnel/not as comfortable as 360 controller Price is $100+ than xbox360 No Backwards compatible (some models) Edit: Just some history on me. I've loved Final Fantasy and bought only Sony products starting with the original PSX. My bro bought xbox and played halo and amped all the time. I played Final Fantasy and MGS mostly. Bought PS2 because I wasn't a big xbox fan. This past year when I wanted a nextgen system I did my research. Originally I wanted to buy an xbox for 6 months from costco and return it when PS3 came out, but XBL really makes that much of a difference. I don't miss PS3 at all. There's more exclusive titles for Xbox and I'm not worried about not having blu ray. Those players are like 150 bucks now... My friends have all three systems (360/ps3/wii) and they all agree, Wii = party game system for smash brothers, ps3 = blu ray, xbox = online/overall gaming capability. As for the difference in graphics, there is none between PS3 and Xbox. I can show you videos from gameplay from both and you couldn't tell the difference...I bought Xbox for the online experience and playing with my brother, friends and random people on line. That seems to be the trend of games nowadays and you'll find that the 360 delivers that much better than PS3. Plus, I used to work for EA and Sony. Sony was a pain to work for, so screw them. |

It really seems like the 360> PS3 but when you saying the potential has not been reached... does that mean you expect them to advance the PS3? thanks for your imput

RRoD = people not taking care of their xbox. All the new models (that came out within the last year and a half) have that same processor. HD space isn't useful yet. I have my 60gb hard drive and had it for a while now. I think I have used 200k?
90% of the RRoD problems are people leaving their xbox in a small space enclosed on three sides like old vcrs were with no ventilation. If you give your xbox sufficient room to breathe (standing it vertically on top of a tv stand or just somewhere where it's not in a hole somewhere, you'll never have any problems.) As for the potential, game companies have hit a wall for graphics potential with the recession. I think that PS3 might start coming out with more detailed games within 3 years possibly? not anytime in the next 12-18 months for sure. |

anyways, yes i agree with you about the RRoD, but thats one thing you'll never see on the PS3. Im a big fan of the Blue ray and would use it all the time, i just need to know if the PS3 with the blue ray is a better buy than the Xbox with all its games and extras... How much better is online play w/ the xbox?

PS3 only had memory leak issues and games freezing. That was the equivalent of RRoD As for the Blu Ray vs. XBL: if you have a whole libray of Blu Ray DVDs that you'll watch regularly, PS3 isn't a bad choice at all, it's a combination of games and movies. My question to you is. What do you plan to do more? Play video games online or watch blu ray movies? That's the system you should get. |

i have both and my experience is this
xbox360- better online play more selection of games XBL is easier to navigate than PSN, well before their new stupid update, i prefer the old XBL layout more things are free on XBL, but you have to pay the yearly fee downloads can continue after shutting down the system recently added netflicks to XBL play and charger kit still charges with system shut down controller is better suited to FPS cooling fans are loud must have wired connection to internet or buy wireless adaptor must buy an Elite for hdmi connections (i believe) achievements PS3- smaller selection of games and most are multiplatform personally i think it has better graphics, but that comes down to connections, tv, preference Blu-ray free PSN, but downloads seem to cost more system must be on to download and charge controller most games install onto the hard drive, its annoying at first, but cuts down on in-game loading built-in Wi-Fi, or wired connection hard drive is the same as a laptop hard drive, easy to upgrade space main menu is too cluttered for my taste i prefer the PS controller feel to the 360's in the end, i think the ps3 is the better system, but xbox has more games and an easier to use interface |

Wireless connections are terrible for playing games online. PS3 and XBL Playing halo or DoA online makes me want to buy a yugo or a mustang...
