lol, I just read it in a magazine a few hours ago.... Its italian for "Grand Touring Homologated"..... don't ask me what it means.

nope, actually the GTO name was originally a Ferrari (250 GTO) built in the early 60's. Pontiac used the name after Ferrari discontinued the model. Ferrari is now making a 599 GTO again... I'd much rather have the pontiac Another good hint of the GTO's name coming from Ferrari is what it stands for, "Gran Turismo Omologato", which means "Grand Touring Homologated" in english.
