Oh ok, I gotcha, and yes, if the cop is feeling spiteful they can definitely bust you on it whenever they feel like it :(

Exactly!

I just got a ticket yesterday morning 1:30 am. I didn't even make it a mile down the highway. Last time I try to accelerate to clean my hood off. The mile marker on the highway I live off of is 4 and on the ticket the mile marker was 4.

My Camaro is red and he wrote orange on the ticket. Can I go to court and get out of the ticket for that? I'm going anyway hoping the officer doesn't show.

Possibly, how many MPH were you over the speed limit by? If it wasn't much they might let it slide, and from what I hear if the officers don't show up for those a lot of the time.

LOL, i always think it is funny when people try to get out of paying for a ticket, when most of the time they KNOW they broke the law. just man up, admit your fault, and pay the darn thing.

What does it hurt to try? I'm not crying that the cop gave me a ticket. I drive a truck for a living and have not had a ticket in 20 years...Just trying to see if I get lucky. LOL right back at you.......

Correct.

But, to answer your question, no. I would not....unless you were passing at some unreal speed. Plain and simple.

i personally find Iowa cops extremely tollerand of 'my standard' 10mph over

Here in washington state Tag, they allow us to pass but we have to be back in the lane & back in speed zone with in 1/4Mile

Minimum speed regulation — Passing slow moving vehicle.

(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law: PROVIDED, That a person following a vehicle driving at less than the legal maximum speed and desiring to pass such vehicle may exceed the speed limit, subject to the provisions of RCW 46.61.120 on highways having only one lane of traffic in each direction, at only such a speed and for only such a distance as is necessary to complete the pass with a reasonable margin of safety.

so if they are doing 50 in a 60 you can pass them as long as you are back under Reg speed limit But you can not be going 100 or even 80 to pass someone lol.

In Georgia the speed limit's 70, the cops all tell ya "keep it under 80 and we won't have a problem"

Actually, as I understand it, torque is for acceleration, horsepower is for top speed. Since the manual only has 26 more HP, it would only be noticeable in top-end difference. There's only a 10 lbs-torque difference between the manual and the automatic SS, which probably wouldn't make too much difference in rolling acceleration.

I had a kid who worked for me ask me this question once. In his case, the officer wrote down what looked like "BLU" and his car was black. 'Can I get out of it', he asked me.

I asked him if he seriously thought a magistrate was going to let him off the hook for the color car. You showup at the hearing? Was it you the officer ran a license on? Was it your car? Your plate was on it, same as the # on the ticket? Your ticket?

OK then. They will make you pay it even if the color reads "Marigold" and you clearly drive a mauve car. Want to piss off the magistrate? Try to tell him that error is a good enough waste of time to get you out of a ticket. Take your checkbook.

Horsepower is a function of torque

In the automotive world, we have torque multipliers, not hp multipliers

Also bear in mind that a fluid coupling such as a torque converter absorbs energy. Torque converters can also multiply torque, but efficiency is going to be lost. I don't know if the Camaro's auto trans uses the variable stator or not, but it's too simplistic to say 'torque is for acceleration, hp is for speed'. You have a transmission with gears in it, and a rear end ratio as well, complicated by the fact that no torque converter is 100% efficient. I don't know if the LS3 and the L99 use the same cam and have the same powerband, either.
