Ok I'm at 31% and the only "icon" left on the map is Irish, so I'm assuming my next trip is to a new area. Some wolves killed my horse, I got another by whistling for a while, is he as good as my old horse?

Yes, you'll meet Irish and you guys will travel to Mexico by raft. Watch out for guys tossing dynamite on the riverbank.

Not sure if it is or not. You can always buy a good horse and everytime it dies you can select the deed and it will be available for you again. Just whistle. I mainly used the Kentucky Saddler. It was the best horse stamina wise. The Hungarian Half Breed is fast but the stamina isn't great.

I found the American Standardbred to be the best horse in the game. I found it somewhere between the RR camp and the general store in Tall Trees. It's supposed to be solid black, but on the game it looks like dark chocolate. Once I broke it in it became available to buy. Good horse, check it out if you can find one.

Never did break that one. It is supposed to be the best balance of speed/stamina though.

Ok I'm in Mexico now... Wow game got a lot harder, but I think its more exciting.

Is there any way to travel freely between Mexico and the US? I wanna get the airplane guy some more red sage!

All you need to do is set a waypoint and it'll show ya the path. One way is to travel across a gorge along the railroad tracks.

I didn't find it too hard at all. I found it more challenging and more fun. Here's a tip, take a wagon up through Tall Trees and you'll be out of reach from the bears. I honestly had more cougars kill my horse than bears. Those were a pain in my ass.

Always remember that when you see a bear you can expect there to be a second one near by. The semi auto shotgun, Evans repeater and buffalo gun are all good to use on the bears. It's real fun to kill them with a knife too if you're feeling brave.

If you're in Mexico and set a waypoint somewhere in the US you can pitch a tent (camp) and automatically travel to the waypoint. It's much quicker than having to ride back and forth.

I found it helpful to keep my buffalo rifle armed whenever I'm in Tall Trees. It's a quicker bear kill. 1 to 2 shots and he's down. Also, make sure you listen really closely to the ambient sounds. You can usually hear the bears before you see them. When you've found the flowers use your right stick and look all around you when you get off your horse. Shoot anything necessary (heed Stang Killer's advice, if there's 1 there's 2), then pick the flowers, jump on your horse and high-tail it.

Hope this helps
