What is even more scary then the green freak is the rate at which the Gov is printing $. At some point we all will have to pay the price and any profit will be gobbled up by the inflation monster. Greeners are easily tamed just feed them organic granola. I live in WA state and we have enough greeners for everyone.

![]() Let's try not to marginalize any opinions. You may or may not believe in global warming. You may or may not agree with environmentalists. It doesn't matter. The politics section was killed because this type of language was used to describe otherwise legitimate beliefs. Don't say that these people are evil or unworthy of holding office. They may be on these boards, and their voters will certainly take offense, so let's stay away from criticizing people's belief's, especially the ones that can be so easily defended as to cause a long, painful argument, such as global warming, liberal or conservative government policy, religion, abortion, and evolution. :fighting0040:

Sorry if I offended anyone not my intent. Just having fun. I would never ask anyone to change their beliefs just look at all the options. And to poke fun of myself as I do hold the the environment in high regard so yes I'm some what a Greener myself.

The entire issue of GM going to Congress and asking for a loan is one big political pound cake. To ask anyone to comment on it without their political views showing through is impossible. America is all about one person speaking their views at the very top of their lungs which offends and drives another person to spend their life fighting it at the top of theirs. Instead of people getting offended so easily, go out there and speak what you believe. Don't ask others to censor for your own comfort. That goes against anything America was founded on. If someone doesn't like how RodRunner or GrnMchin put their views, they should be the ones discussing amongst themselves. I don't see either of them talking about someone's Mom or droping F bombs, so as far as that goes they're well within their rights to speak however they want about GM's loan request. |

I invite anyone to discuss the possibility of a bailout, loan, or any other car-related policy. I'm just not wanting half this thread's posts to be deleted because someone decided to go off-topic and start talking about "flaming hippies" or "backwards conservatives." We don't need that here.

If the government is issued shares and GM also manages to convert debt into equity (which is what will attempt to do), share value will be in the toilet for at least 5 years. There will be so many shares out there that the only way for them to increase in value is for GM to buy back a few hundred million.

I too did not mean to offend anyone with my comments. I apologize if I did!!!
I fully expected someone with an opposing view to speak back, to which I would have taken no issue. Stating an opinion is one thing, getting into an argument here is wrong and most definitely not worth the effort....opinions are not easily changed. Hopefully it works out well for GM as with the airlines a few years ago. 2SS/RS Black/Black w-Cyber Gray stripes/Auto - ordered 10/18/08 - Polished Aluminums added 12/1/08

If GM went to the bank asking for a loan, there would be no mention of it from anyone. When GM goes to the govt to ask for a loan we act as if GM had done something wrong, and if the govt support GM they are going against the wishes of our country.
GM needs a loan. It is not like the govt hasn't imposed restrictions and mandated change from our auto makers. Even though they have done a poor job of running their companies, they have put things in place to stop the hemorrhaging. Due to the economy they have run out of time. The plan they came up with has a few holes, but it looks like it can get them going to come out of this recession and stay in business competitively for decades to come. I feel for the workers who will lose the jobs due to the economy. Quite frankly, if GM would have put this plan in effect earlier the workers would have been looking for work earlier. UAW, take a reduction in your interest for each member. It is better to make a little money than to not make any due to companies closing. As a matter of fact, I personally feel the auto makers should de-unionize the auto industry. Due to unions the work ethics have gone away (not in all workers) and they cannot compete with the rules they have put in place over the years (ie...one worker only does one job on one assembly line). I know many companies out there who would never allow unions to take over. Those employees come to work with specific rules and instructions. Follow them correctly and they will have a long and fruitful employment. Do not follow them and you will look for other employment. This is how it should be. |

Gov't ownership means stocks...and not a controlling stake. I don't like it, either...but they see it as taxpayer 'protection'. They won't be able to force GM to do anything via the stocks...they can do enough through laws...
I believe they did something similar with Chrysler in the 70s (80s?) |

Not going to happen. The day GM is owned by a foriegn company is the day it stops being "my" GM.

I don't think at this point in time it would happen, but Buick (GM) is one of the larger and top selling auto companies in China with factories for manufacturing and such. The cost for production is low for many reasons i.e. labor, environmental laws and such. Just a possibility, because look at what the big three did when the British auto industry met the same fate, they bought them.
