Hec I remember as a kid living in alaska doing the duck, cover & hold drills back in the late 70s

We lived close to an Army base, they taught the "Bend over and kiss your ass goodbye" drill.

Those were the good ole days. It was after the bay of pigs, so it must have been for the cold war.

...Army brat are ya?

We can't worry about what's going to happen next, but it's always good to know what to do 'just in case'.

We have "Lockdown Drills."

Run to a corner of the classroom, huddle, and hope that whoever's attacking the school doesn't notice you.

Our tornado drills consist of running out into the hallways and covering up. I still say it'd be safer to try and outrun the tornado than sit in a hallway and die.

Sadly, yes.

WASHINGTON – A bipartisan commission is asserting the country should expect a terrorist attack using nuclear or biological weapons sometime in the next five years.

The report, which is scheduled to be publicly released on Wednesday, suggests that the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama should improve the capability of the United States to counter such an attack and to prepare if necessary for germ warfare.

The report was written by the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism. Among other things, it concluded: "Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing."

The commission also is encouraging the new White House to appoint a National Security Council official to exclusively coordinate U.S. intelligence and foreign policy on combating the spread of nuclear and biological weapons.

we had one that wasn't a drill (or so we thought)a month or two ago, it just consisted of putting the blinds down and don't walk near the windows other than that we could just do whatever... let me just say being stuck in a room with 30 people and no open windows for 2 hours sucks (3 1/2 if you count the rest of the class period before it went off) and the worst part was is it was all

that's better than a couple months ago, my college had a bomb threat, so they canceled all classes and told people to not stay in certain buildings... yet the teachers & staff still had to come to work each day.
