When they say 60% is that by weight or volume? Because a computer chip really is super small, but it has millions of parts...

I told the car salesman when I ordered the Camaro that I wanted the shiny wheels. He must have misunderstood and got me the Chinee wheels.

I blame it on Americas unions- You can't pay people $40.00+ an hour to put wheels on new cars, you just can't.
If you're right, then unions must have something to do with the high unemployment rate in the USA. If we can't compete with other countries then it makes sense a lot of jobs would be lost to them.

It's a good thing that we have a lot of smart people in washington working to correct this issue, right?

Sounds like a smart move. If you make a widget and have to pay a lot of taxes, a lot of medical insurance, a lot of union wages plus pension plans, and other benefits to a million employees, while some other company overseas doesn't have to pay any of that stuff, your company is going to go out of business when your widget cost more for you to build than the other company sells their widget for.

If you have 100,000 employees and you can save $1000 per year on each employee (that's about $0.50 an hour) by giving the job to someone else, then you just earned your $100,000,000 salary for the year!

Just remember that it's the politics of this great land that is causing it's death.
I don't fault the companies for using the politics to their advantage.

Not too long ago...such an idea would have had a person thrown out the front door for being a selfish prick. Of course...that was back when we had a strong sense of national pride in ourselves and brother (and sister) citizens...I wish I knew how to get that back....:(

It all starts at the top. If our government had that kind of national pride it wouldn't have created the policies that put us in this mess.

It pains me to say that staying in business trumps national pride in most boardrooms.

These are very complicated issues and unfortunately the problems are so intertwined with other issues that it's going to be very hard to try and unravel this mess.

Plus... far too many people have made their own little fortunes exploiting the mess and they're not about to let anyone take away their golden goose by fixing the problems.
