I just got a speeding ticket this morning on the way to work. Haven't gotten a ticket in the last TEN years, so I guess I was due. Was clocked doing 71 in a 55, but was only written-up for 5 miles over the limit. Had the officer ticketed me for the actual16 over, the fine would have been $640. Luckily it will only cost me $190. I have only had the car about six weeks.

Yeah, I like the way cops make you feel good about paying a $190 tax to the county.

Could have been worse - a lot worse; like $450 worse.

Yeah, I know.

But it could have been better... a lot better. $0.00 for not writing you a ticket or giving you a warning.

Even if you just decide to pay the fine and walk away it is good information for DIY ticket fighters.

Maybe you might save a copy for for future reference.

Not always true. These cars are cop magnets. Sometimes they get us older guys too. Got a speeding ticket in March but got out of it in court.. Gotta be careful out there.

i just paid my speeding ticket and traffic school ( so it doesnt go on my record and raise my insurance) and it cost me $280 for ticket and another $25 for traffic school. appearently 96 in a 55 is illegal... oooops! won't do that again... however the CHP was super cool and only wrote me for 10 over

Interesting read...but he had me dead to rights. There were no other cars within probably a mile of me. The officer was tucked back behind a concrete barrier about 15 feet off of the road. The funny thing is that I drive this highway every day and have for the last three years, and have never seen police in that area, (they are usually about 3-4 miles further down the road and are there every morning, so once I get past a certain point on the highway, I always go the speed limit, (or within two or three mph). Guess they decieded to mix it up a bit for the holiday weekend.

Wasn't referring to his age as to why he got pulled over, everyone speeds at some point or another. It was more of a smarta$$ comment because, well, because I'm a smarta$$

Thats my normal speed limit. Just take whatever the limit is and add 10mph.....except for the interstate....thats a minimum of 80 regardless.

Just this morning while on my way to hubby's work to take him his cell phone that he forgot, I passed four Ohio State Highway Patrols, 2 parked on each side of I675 with radar guns. I had my cruise set for 67. The speed limit was 65. A black car went flying by me and got nailed. When the patrolman hit his lights and pulled out behind me, my heart sank to my knees. Luckily, he went by me and got the black car (don't know make) who passed me. It does not pay to speed guys/gals. Of course, I've learned this the hard way when I got back to back tickets in Ft. Worth, Texas 5 years ago. I don't speed anymore. I'm the slowest Camaro on the road. The older you get, the more conservative your driving will get.
