or.. you could do what this one guy did it used to be an econobox... then he wanted to race it. it was a geo metro and he dropped in a chevy northstar v8 pushing over 400 horsepower with nitrous. he got a 7.77 on the 1/8 mile track we have close by. was all fine and dandy until he blew the engine on his 2nd run i asked him what happened after his run and he said that he forgot he had the nitrous turned on at the start so it totally leaned out at launch and that was that.

Just checked the V6 Camaro fast list. The fastest time a V6 on this website ran is:
13.959 @ 101.04 - A6 - (Injen CAI, GMPP Axle Back, JBA Shorty Headers)

While the vid i posted of a random GTI (some have run even better times) ran:
13.905 @ 102.59 (downpipe, intake, stage 2 software)

You're kidding, right?

Comparing a car that has had it's engine and transmission yanked out to a european car that is barely modified and yet retains a smooth ride, versatility, comfort, quality, and reliability?

Anyways, if the OP is after outright performance and not an all-rounder, i would seriously recommend a Cobalt SS TC or a Caliber SRT4.

Ralliart gets better gas mileage than an evo, and its definitely not as slow as the standard lancers (de, es, gts) its around the price of a 2lt camaro

GMC Granite - I'm digging it. 1.4L Turbo so has some mod potential as well.

Cobalt SS FTW, just get rid of the wing.

As far as a new car, I would rock this for 45 mpg's
