If you are suggesting that somehow the Mustang will fade away into the sunset unless it gets IRS as the standard suspension, I would disagree. It seems to me differences between IRS vs SRA is much more of a debate on paper/the internet than it is in the "real" world.
Everything I've ever read regarding the Mustang and every other car on the road is not a question of handling, but ride-quality. An IRS is simply more refined in that respect. It can be argued whether or not the SRA can hold its own on a less-than-perfect road vs an IRS....but in terms of ride quality, there is no question that IRS is superior -- it's DESIGNED to be superior.

Hardly anyone outside of these forums would know any better one way or the other, though. So...unless a competitor exploits its "archaic" character in advertising...sales wouldn't be effected one way or the other.

I agree, but just because a car has an IRS, what kind of ride quality it delivers is dependent on things such as bushing type used, springs rates, shock specs, etc. I submit that the ride quality between the 2011 Mustang and the 2011 Camaro is not something the average person is going to feel with their seat-o-the-pants meter.

Even if the competiton touts one as better than the other, unless the buyer is able to discern the difference for themselves, it's not likely to affect their buying decision. At least not your average buyer.

Yup, your average buyer will purchase (or not) a car based on something as menial as floormats. (I've seen it happen...!!)

We, HERE....do care about the differences, though.

Argueing over personal biases and preferences is rather pointless. I suppose there is entertainment value to it though....

For the GT and SS and SRT8 I say what ever magazine article they read
(Car & driver or road & track) will weigh in heavily.

Not necessarily. the average buyer is more likely to read something like Consumer Reports than an enthusiast publication. At least I would think so...hope so...most of those magazines are no better than entertaining toilet paper.

Uncanny! I was about to say the same thing. Most people I know take magazines like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, etc. for what they are, entertaining publications. I don;t think I've ever met a person who bought a car based on an article in one of those types of magazines. I find that the average person bases their decision on three things:

1) Word of mouth from current owners of the car in question
2) Experiencing the car in question by riding with someone who owns one
3) Their own test drive of the car in question

Well OK I must not be the average buyer. On the other hand I did get the camaro even as the mustang had better review per the magazines.
I like the looks of the camaro and still feel they are as fast.
Also got a work supplier discount which helped. Yes you are correct about them being biased.

first off for those who dont know the GT500 is not in the Camaro class put it up against a Zr1 which is the car it should be racing but magazines are too afraid too even have it on the same track as the Zr1. for you 5.0 lovers know that your car still is not quite a 5.0 even in the 90's it didnt meet the requirements to be considered a 5.0 you got beat by the Z28 hands down in the 90's. And it will soon happen again. Give me a Saleen, or a Shelby ill give you a Hennessy Camaro. And what are all of you Mustang guys doing on this CAMARO forum.. I'd like everyone to have a nice day. dont get mad. and butt hurt. i'm here all week ...
