OK Guys new to the Forum and yes Im a mustang guy. I have a 2006 Mustang GT It has bolt ons and I run nos. best track time so far is a 7.7 1/8th mile.

I been reading through this thread and wanted to add my two cents. The new 5.0 is very impresive. I curently want to sell my car just to get one. I am not saying the new camaro isnt though. My car is 341 N/A off the bottle and I had a new camaro walk me on the free way. Which brings up my next topic. I have seen a couple new camaros at the track where I race. ( Barona 1/8th mile track san diego ca) There is a younger kid that has one with a Vortech S/C. He claims 500+ HP but with full interior ect in my car i have walked away from him. His 60 fts are 2.0 Which I know is the reason he is spinning bad. Ok well I have seen one other car run. DMP brought one out to our wickedstangs event mustangs vs world and with a drag radial snapped a axcel. Have any of you guys thought about putting a 10 bolt or 12 bolt in your car? My buddy has a 04 cobra ( terminator IRS) and he did the swap from IRS to a 8.8 and works well at track. I would think you guys who make good power swap in a live axcel with a locker and 35 spline axcels could really get your car to move. I know they guys who tuned my car at SpankinTimes Motersports have a camaro that runs 10's with a Kenny Bell and a charger in 10's with K.B. and a Mustang in 9's with K.B Just wondering if someone has thought about a straight axcel

Someone else ran their auto GT down the track:
Quote:
We recently took possession of our 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L Automatic. There may or may not have been excited giggling as we poured out of our offices to catch a glimpse, but we’re not at liberty to say! Our first impression: this car begs to be pushed to its limits. Small styling changes in the interior are completely overshadowed by the massively impressive upgrade under the hood.

Most of us remember the original 5.0L 302. When Ford released it, it was under-designed and under-powered, and there weren’t any real aftermarket performance parts available at first release. Thankfully, that won’t be the case this time around. The biggest names in aftermarket Mustang parts are developing sweet performance upgrades, and we’re working right alongside them. Our vendors are working with us exclusively to test parts, as well as research fitment and performance. We’re going to be building our GT the same way any enthusiast does—right here, in our garage. Along the way, we’ll be showing you more coverage of our mod strategy and giving you examples of real world numbers, both on the dyno and on the asphalt.

Needless to say, we can’t let a car sit for long. Within hours of delivery of our 2011, we were all thinking of one thing – Maple Grove Raceway. We broke it in as quickly as possible (the hardest 2 days ever!), and high-tailed it to the track this past Friday afternoon for some baseline testing. We were pleased with the times, considering we ran it at the track in its bone-stock condition. Our team laid down some impressive numbers out of the GT, with consistent times of 13.034 at 109mph and 13.022 at 110mph. Check out the awesome video below to see the team flying down the track!

Like what you see? So do we! The 2011 GT is impressive even without any modifications. We’re not sufficiently impressed to leave it stock for long, though. We’re working in conjunction with several of our vendors and using our 2011 for research, development, and testing fitment for a lot of exciting parts. While we’re at it, we’re also working on calibrations for the 2011 with our in-house dyno.

We’ve got plans for gears, exhaust products, suspension components, wheels and tires, a cold air induction system, and Bama Custom Tuning. That’s all before this beast heads back to the ¼ mile! Those aren’t the only tricks we have up our sleeves, though. Make sure you subscribe to our youtube channel and keep an eye on the blog so you’ll be the first to know when we announce the next big thing for the 2011!

We want to know what you want to see us do next! Comment below and tell us your ideas for our 2011 Mustang GT project. The most popular ideas could make it to future videos and other press coverage! Give us your predictions for the track and tell us what you’d like to see in the next video. Install footage? More track coverage and interviews? Let us know what you think.

Trap speed seems more in line than the 115 number.

Trap speed does seem more in line but I will have to admit that its still impressive in this heat. I really need to get the baby cam out of my car. I would hate to get walked by a 2011 GT with either trans. I think the stock L99 owners really got the short end of the stick in relation to both LS3 and new 5.0.

Maybe not. Good TQ converter, gear and the research going on with the variable timing stuff and I think we will start to see the auto's become the standard at the strip for quickest 5th gen times.

You are correct when modded after replacing the cam and lifters but in stock or near stock form we are at a big disadvantage. A stalled auto is always going to have a advantage over the same car with a stick (same mods of course) but the new stang auto will have aftermarket stall converters too. I dont think people realize how small the L99 cam is and how much its holding us back. A MILD, MILD cam change on a L99 gets around 70FWHP.

It's not that the Mustang isn't a fine car also, because it is... I've just always been a bowtie guy . Even if I have 2 fords in the house now, and 2 chevy's ( down sized from 5 chevys ) .
Anouther thing I hate is the 36,000 mile warrenty when mine is 100,000 and I have to pay extra to get hers to 100,000.

Oh well... she will be a happy little girl
The basic warranties are both 3/36, the 100,000 mile warrant on the Camaro is the powertrain warranty, here the Mustang carries a 4 year/60000 mile warranty.

Ultimately both great cars. Each person has his or her preference. I don't understand all of the animosity. Especially when it's devoid of any logic.

I was all about the Camaros when they came out in spite of the fact that I have owned 7 pretty nice mustangs in my life and no Chevy products. I held off buying one because of all the 5.0 rumors. At this point I'm glad I did as I guess I'm still happily hooked on the blue oval.

I think the Camaro is a better looking car. I love the fact that they don't have skinny 255's on the rear. The motor is fantastic.

Right now if my best friend told me he was buying an SS, I'd say GREAT FREAKIN CAR!!! It amazes me how fans of each seem compelled to argue over why the other car sucks, as opposed to why they like their particular car. Further they refuse to give the, "opposition" their due. Both great cars! Neither car sucks. Not even close!

yep. right on--both these cars are freakin awesome. better to have two great choices than just one, or even worse, none
