There is a 40HP diff between the 2010 and 2008. That would put him around ~450WHP plus an extra ~100lbs. over the Camaro which is another 10HP hit.

Taken those stats into consideration I can see where it was possible if he had no mods.

Understanding that street racing discussion is prohibited here, hypothetically what MPH would you estimate the roll from?

35 or so...I don't get why it's hard to swallow? GT500 is pretty close in wieght to the SS, and I'm laying down 422WHP on a Mustang Dyno which always read lower.

Haha no she won't because I wont let her race it! Only if you live in PA I would let you take it for a run its quite a thrill! Easy to lay anything down below 13.0 once you get a feel for it.

You recall any wheel spin? He should have been in 1st at 35 which will produce nothing but wheelspin.

Not impossible to believe, just looking into the re-enactment for details.

On paper would be a pretty close race with your mods.

If you actually had to ask this question, in all seriousness, then sell your SHelby gt500 and get a regular mustang gt. Seems the thing to do if you are an intelligent person.

/sarcasm off
Well the 08 GT500 is similar in times on the 1/4 with the GT but keep the 2008

Some of you guys make me laugh.

It is a drivers race between the cars stock for stock if their has ever been one.

Looks like the GT has .1-.2 and 1-2mph advantage...sometimes.

I have read more than a few comparisons between the two cars where the camaro was faster and also where the mustang was faster. In both cases it was a close race.

Plenty of people (on the massive 30 on the list) on this site alone have run 12's in the camaro, 9 people out of 31 on the list have hit 12's to be exact. 12.58 being the best time (12.43 @ 112 corrected) on a measly 1.94 60ft. Their are also plenty of 111 traps.

As I recall Evan Smith ran a 12.69 at ATCO with the 11 GT. Dont tell me he cant drive.

And has everyone forgotten that the camaro has had a 1 second lead to 120mph in one mag and a 1.8 second advantage to 130mph in another mag? In other words if you like to do some highway roll racing (illegal and dangerous not condoning it). You will have your hands full against the camaro in this situation.

BTW...why is the person with a stock 2011 GT calling out an LS3 camaro with full exhaust and bolt ons?....you would lose for sure if he can equal you in the driving department.

I had the pleasure of driving a new GT a couple days ago. I can tell you for certain my car would absolutely WALK AWAY from it.

Anyone in either car who thinks they are just going to go out and dust the other one off (with equal factors) is just kidding themselves.

The driver mod is probably the most important thing when racing these two cars...

Or how about swapping 4 cams in the new mustang compared to 1 in the camaro?

Can you give me a price difference/breakdown for that?

Im glad you are not scared of mid-13's. Who is running that? I take it you are modded so it doesnt apply to you I am sure.

Any decent driver in the camaro can hit low 13's/high 12's in good conditions....just like the 11 GT. The 4th gen camaro could better mid 13's on a regular basis with a good driver. LT1 camaros have hit mid 13's....are we talking about a 5th gen?

New vipers, gt500's and corvette zo6's hit mid 13's all the time....doesn't mean anything except the driver etc...

Correcting 1/4 mile times is great for a racer that likes to compare what he/she runs from day to day, or from track to track (I did it regularly when I competed in the NMRA series a few years ago - kept a detailed log). But correcting them so that you can say on the internet that "xxxxx ran this, but it would have been this on yyyyy day" is rather....well......lame. No offense intended, I simply can't think of a more PC way of putting it. Sorry.

Even Smith went 12.69 at Gainsville in Florida, not Atco. He certainly can drive.

The quickest bone stock GT I know of went 12.58 (curiously enough) too. However, it will be fall before we see some good times from these cars. There were simply not enough of them out before the summer weather hit.

Over a brand new, bone stock GT? I would hope so! Your mods (the ones that actually increase performance):

Stainless Works 2" Long Tubes, Flowmaster AT Cat-Back, Cold Air Inductions CAI, SLP UD Pulley, Hurst Short Throw, RevXtreme Catch Can,
Dyno tuned at Stenod Performance Mustang Dyno
435RWHP 418RWTQ

Given your mods, I'm not sure what your point was in saying that you would "walk away" from a bone stock, extremely low-mileage 2011 GT.

I think most folks would agree with that. I know I do.

I hope everyone enjoys their cars - no matter what it may be.

I have a post somewhere in another thread. GM knew ford was going to match the HP numbers in 2011, they should have answered right away rather than wait until 2012. Thats where the NEW GM has to change thier ways. All GM needed was another 20HP or a gear change, so a DI LS3 or a 3:73 would have done the job.

As far as my feelings go, what can you do, it's a arms race, each year there will be something better.
I will TELL you this........The Mustang guys better thank us Camaro guys otherwise the Mustang would still be making 300HP.

You the same Bob Cosby who ran a cobra with bolt-ons in the NMRA?
Remember you from Modular Mustangs when I got my 2004 gt.
