I still think from a roll the Mustang has an advantage though because of its excellent transmission gearing there is a greater chance that it will start off in the "perfect" gear.
Yeah I would agree...the camaro owner will be more likely to get caught in a dead spot. But that doesn't make it faster....I would never roll race my car from a dead spot.

But I know what your saying...good point.

I really want to look into gears for my car...such as the 4.10. But damn us 5th gen guys seem to be VERY BEHIND in terms of testing and tuning. It has been a year now and we still dont have reliable information on the effectiveness of 4.10's in the camaro.

Seems like the 5.0 has had almost as much hot rodding/tuning done to it as the camaro which has been out for a year longer. Not a good thing...

As far as the clutch. Mine has performed fine so far. I got a little bit of the clutch smell in the first month or two of ownership if I slipped it. Havent had it lately.
The clutch also makes a bit of noise when pushing down the pedal quickly from a stop or slow roll. Other than that it has been fine. I will drive it like this till the clutch is gone. Then I will put a performance clutch in it and do it myself.

I have also heard of clutch issues from the 5.0 as well. Evolutions car only lasted 13 passes. But not enough cars have been sold to know for sure.
Yet LG motorsports full weight 480rwhp low 11 second 2010 camaro was on the stock clutch....so I guess you never know. And they had been running that car since it was stock.

I guess it is just the luck of the draw so far...no recall has been issued.

Yes, same person. Won't be running F/S with the 5.0, but that kind of stuff is for another Forum.

Did ya'll not see the video I posted of the 5.0L running 10.97 N/A? And that's with just bolt ons and a little weight reduction.

If you think that it won't run low 10's with a little head and cam work then you're nuts. There's a hell of a lot more left in that 5.0L motor.

Yeah, they aren't. Would you say 40 whp from exhaust, intake, and a tune maxed out? I didn't think so.

The car had EXTENSIVE weight reduction for the 10 second pass. 400 lbs weight reduction, Suspension mods, Slicks and skinnies. Off road exhaust, Bolt ons. Aftermarket clutch. 100 octane Race gas and an aggressive race gas tune. Literally 100's of passes with all the time and money and knowledge you would ever need.

You make it sound like you could remove the spare and jack, throw on a cai and tune, and run 10's on street tires. Good luck with that.

If you want to call it a simple bolt on car running 10's then go ahead. That doesnt make you any different from about 2 or 3 new BS posts I see form day to day on this site.

And yes...we have seen it 1000 times. We get to see the video posted up by a mustang guy about every day or so LOL.

An ls1 f-body has gone 9.8 NA (heads and cam stock bottom end) with an old push rod motor designed in 1996.

If the car cant go to the 9's with head and cam work with stock bottom end that wont be anything to write home about.

You may not think so but some of us have actually kept up on the claims evolution has been making. I know what the car has run and which mods (that they tell us) it has had every step of the way.

I'm still wondering what the camaro would do with a solid rear axle.

Will anyone ever throw one on and find out?

Do I sense some angry undertones? I believe I do. Hey fact of the matter is, it'll run 10's without even turning a bolt on the motor.

And you know what we can sit here and talk 1/4 mile times all day. We can talk about stock for stock, which the Mustang wins. We can talk about mod for mod which we have yet to see which car wins.

Fact of the matter is at the end of the day the Mustang is a better car. It may not have always been the fastest car, but it has always been the BETTER car. Better engineered, better designed, better looking, better interior, better to drive, better to own, easier to maintain, more aftermarket options, a better community. Just plain better.

You can throw any angle you want at us, you can say how good the Camaro is at this, and how good the motor is, etc. The fact of the matter is it's just not a better car.

The Mustang is THE original classic American Muscle car. Something that GM couldn't truly follow up with the Camaro, even in '69.

With over 9 million of them sold I guess you really can't argue that point now can you?

EDIT: Almost forgot, the Mustang is better sounding too.

You know you're on a hardcore Camaro site, right?

Recommend you chill out and keep that in mind.

I see you DID forget that it looks like a K-car when placed near a new Camaro (Even a V-6 Camaro).

And these are the mustang owners that give all the other ones bad names.

Your general attitude against the camaro makes any point you state invalid.

Will a civil mustang owner please post now. This genius is going to get this thread locked.

Yeah... Those college girls with the v6 mustangs and their PINK stickers all over them sure give it a good american muscle name.

Give it a rest already. You're making yourself look dumb, as I'm sure a mustang owner with sense will come in here and tell you.

My wife just bought the 2011 mustang gt last week. I've driven it several times, it just does't feel as strong as my camaro. She loves it so far, but in her words, its not a car for a man! lol
