he shoulda been disappointed in himself, had nothing to do with his car.

first time i stepped foot in an s197 gt at a dragstrip i went 13.0 @ 109 (intake, tune, exhaust, 4.10s) the guy took back his keys immediately because he wanted to hit 12s in it before anyone else did.

also took a stock 08 (with the 18's) to 13.3.

too many people go to the drag strip and think you just rev it up, pop the clutch and go

according to my calculator, the Mustang can go 111ish MPH with 27"tires and 3.73's. fuel cutoff on the 5.0 is set at 6850rpm.

"With 250 lb-ft on tap at 2,000 rpm, torque starts out pretty strong. It then builds linearly and remains above 350 lb-ft from 4,150 to 5,500 rpm before tapering gently to the 6,850-rpm fuel cut. Peak numbers are 365 lb-ft of torque at 4,350 rpm and 395 hp at 6,600 rpm. All of these at-the-wheels figures were obtained in 4th gear on a Dynojet 248 chassis dyno and include a 3% SAE weather correction factor."

This thread has gotten crazy. Its got to be one of the biggest on here. I think we need to quit worrying about which car is faster and just enjoy the cars we have. We need to grow up and admit that both cars are bad ass and that Ford has built a very competitive car. I think Camaro owners have had it so easy for so long that they have freaked out now that they will have to work at it to be on top. Trust me guys, with the new Mustang being as good as it is will only fuel the fire of competition and GM will step up to the plate. Hopefully it will go back and forth for many years and cars will just continue to improve on both sides of the game.

GTs are in the 15s very commonly at SIR in Tucson. But SIR is above 3000 ft.

Fuel cutoff begins at 6850 (according to your source). Rev-limiter is at 7000.
http://www.corral.net/index.php/tech...50-first-drive

Every link I can find shows a 7000 rpm red line.

6850 is 112 mph (111.8)

7000 rpm is 114.2mph

On your calculator. Nice try though

Fuel cutoff and redline can be two separate things.

It's nice that we can now put the mustang in the same breath as the camaro. From what I've read it appears to be a drivers race.

I was on the fence btwn the 5.0 or the SS however after reading the horror stories regarding clutch issues, ect ect I will go with the 5.0

One thing that bothers me in this thread. Just because car A reaches 130mph 2 seconds faster then car B doesn't mean car A is 100's of feet ahead.

Yes traveling at 130 mph for 2 seconds covers alot of distance, however the other car is nothing traveling zero mph lol. The other car is btwn 125-128 if not higher.....so lets be broad and say its a 2-5mph different for 2 seconds....certainly not 100's of feet. More like a car or two.

Heres a little math:
fps=1.467 * MPH
1.467*130=191 feet per second
1.467*5=7-8 feet per second
Good decision my man, welcome to the Mustang family.

BTW

Have a nice day gents.

Yeah your right

I was thinking of it like being behind 2 seconds to a certain point (like a 1/4 mile).

I am surprised TW1N didnt point this out...

Good call.

BTW...my clutch is great.
