South of the border there are several models that actually are officially called "CHEVY" I mean they even have a "Chevy" badge.

This is stupid. GM has more important things to worry about than the Chevy (excuse me, Chevrolet) name. GM *might* have been able to think about petty stuff like this back in 1999 (when they literally ruled the world) but not now. Honestly, I think this is GM's way of making the Chevrolet brand name more "sophisticated".

 All this means is that you'll start hearing "Chevrolet" in advertising and your dealers will start greeting you with, "Welcome to (insert name here) Chevrolet." Nothing changes except adding a syllable onto the word.

let them use the name chevrolet and let the consumers use chevy or chevrolet which ever they chose. it's like me i use benjamin in all my essays or when I meet someone, but in the end I end up being called ben or benji no big deal. c'mon chevy you got better things to do

me. I just think that out of tons of ideas this has to be one of the most backwards thinking things I have heard. As stated on NBC Anyone remember New Coke.. I'm no marketing major and really don't think it's going to make any difference, but I have been wrong before. I don't give a rats a**, more of a comment on something that has been recognized for years as one thing and seemed to work just fine so why even worry about it.
