Need help picking out winter vehicle

I traded in my 07 avalanche for the camaro. This winter,i will need a snow worthy ride. I would prefer an SUV. I have a price range of around 10,000.
I would like to know whats good. Can i trust an old trailblazer with 100k miles or should i stick with a toyota? Please help. I need advice. Im open to any and all makes and models. I like the kia Sorento..Toyota highlander...Rav4...Trailblazer....4runner. Any help would be great.
Thank you!!!

Just put some snow tires on the beast... with the right tires it's great in the snow.

I remember my 1985 AMC Eagle wagon I had about a year ago..was surprised how well it handled the adverse conditions I drove it in..I actually miss that straight 6, 4 wheel drive car..:(

However, if I where in the market for a SUV, I'd go with a Tahoe, Trailblazer, Yukon, and etc. Jeeps are not that bad either and some are fairly nice. Also, as sterlingnotes has suggested, I've heard the Camaro is fairly decent in the snow

I bought a 2001 Buick Century and drove it last winter after driving V-8 Camaros in the snow for over two decades. It was really good in the snow. I thought about a used SUV also. Here is why I bought the Buick. I got a one owner Buick with 51,000 miles on it in excelent shape for $5,000.00 I have no regrets.
1. Buicks are old people's cars and old people take care of their cars and do not beat the bag out of them and generally have all of the services performed.
2. In my travels, I see lots of Buicks just like mine even though they stopped making them a few years ago. This tells me that they are durable.
3. I get 20 MPG in town and 30 MPG on the highway.
4. I can get it serviced or repaired at the Chevrolet dealer that I bought my 2010 1SS at.
5. Front wheel drive equals traction in the snow.
6. I can go to the mall or Wallmart in it and not have the angst about parking that a lot of the posters on here have. I do not need to park it in BFE, or hog two spots.
7. Winter in Boston eats cars. I took really good care of my last three Camaros but they still looked a little scruffy around the edges from the winter driving.
8. A set of wheels and tires for your car are expensive, why not just get a winter rig?
9. The poster above that is telling you to buy tires and wheels has a six cylinder not a V-8. I am sure that a six cylinder is much easier to get traction in than the V-8's are. My 02 SS had trouble starting on flat land in the snow.
10. My Buick has been dead reliable. I put 10,000 miles on her last year and the only operating costs were oil changes and a tire rotation.

I assume that you know this from experience? I was really wondering about this with the new cars. I drove a 4th gen for 8 years through everything on all-season tires. Only ever spun once...sliced a tire, but no other damage.

If you aren't comfortable driving on all-season tires through the snow, a set of Blizzaks will do wonders for you.

i would look at an early 90s diesel truck. why? because they are heavier. assuming you have the means to plug it in, i would say thats your best bet.

I can tell you from my experience that "cliffy" was a tank in the snow with pirelli scorpion ice and snow tires.

If memory serves me correctly a couple of v8 owners said the same thing.

It's another option and the heated seats and mirrors along with the ride of the camaro are quite nice in the winter.
