Peace out brother.

Its becasue of The Greatest Generation much of the world is free today - we owe our grandfathers, fathers, grandmothers and mothers who fought, served or supported our Country's efforts in World War II all the respect, admiration and honor...

My Dad who is still with us was in the US Navy, on a ship supporting D-Day efforts and I'm proud of his service.

I shall post some pics later if you like?

I know this is D-Day but every year I feel embarrassed that I don't remember it untill 2-3 days later. I don't know why it happens. Its even more embarrassing since my Grandfather was part of the British Indian Army that held Imperial Japan at Burma. My family is damn proud of our participation and remembers my Grandfather and 2.5 Million of his brothers who not only stopped Japan, but also kicked Rommel's ass in N. Africa.

Without their sacrifice and service, I doubt any of us would be enjoying our lives today.

Blade, trust me, Rommel did NOT have his ass kicked in any way shape or form-his withdrawal was such that he couldn't be caught, I suggest a read of http://books.google.ca/books?id=jq0E...hout+hate&cd=1
Excellent read, and shows just how lucky the allies were due to Rommels poor re-supply!!

I'm not takin anything away from your Grandfather Blade, respect

Well he wasn't in Africa so no offense taken, but the Indian troops did kick some butt in Africa.

Over 10,000 Americans died during the D-Day attack between airborne and the landings. How soon we forget how bad war is and how many truely can perish in a battle.

There are lots of points in history most people forget. It's up to everyone else to remember.

Indeed, but look how that number was dwarfed by the battles of the first World War.........

Thats the problem, as the people who were there die off, the majority forget, or even don't even get taught! :(
