If I had the money, I wouldn't be on this forum. I would be having a drunken, naked pillow fight with all of the victoria secret models. The truth is, when you're buying a car at that level, cost is not much of an object. It's more about how badly you want it. If you can drop 300k on a single vehicle, you are rolling in dough or you're an idiot.

Unfortunately those two aren't mutually exclusive.

Bad ass car BTW.

My son asked the question "Why do they do that? Only make a certain amount of a bad ass car?"

So, we were wondering............................ Why?
Exclusivity.

It's one of those cars they can limit because "they can". Just like Bugatti only produces one hundred or so Veyrons every year. Even if the didn't though...with a Carbon Fiber frame...I'm not sure they could produce any great number.

Even so, I'm not sure why you would pay $375k for something that isn't as powerful as a $109k ZR1.
Can the ZR1 break a wine glass? LOL!

Saw an ad at a resturant the other day in Beverly Hills for that thing. Such a sick car. O I have pics of a Bugatti Veryon that was parked on the side of the road that I will up load once I get back the house tonight.

If you recall Lexus' first ad series, they stacked filled wine glasses on the hood of an LS400, in a pyramid, and ran the car to (I think) a 100mph on a dyno...no spillage or breakage...

Now...Scott Pruitt at the wheel of an LFA on a dyno...guess what?!

"Theme"...in reverse...20 years later... "Heritage".

Building 500 of anything automotive is simply (?!) a "statement"...to the "faithful", in particular... Many of the 500 (already sold a year ahead of the first delivery, due next year) were sold only AFTER assurances that ONLY 500 would be built. And there were several thousand who expressed "interest"...

And, BTW, they leave the Dealer, initially, on a 24-Month LEASE-with-option, a page out of other exotic car manufacturers' playbooks to cut down on "speculative pricing", initially. You know, how $105G ZR1s became 50-100% upcharged, initially...

Now, if they ONLY built 500-total ZR1s, any guesses as to what THEY might have sold for?????

Honestly, I don't know why. They spent 9 years developing a car that has good performance, and is WAY overpriced. It's performance can easily be matched and surpassed by cars 4x as cheap as it (ZR1). I don't know why they did it, seems like a waste of money to me.

To bring this into "relative-to-Corvette" terms, how much is any big block "ultra-performance" Corvette from ANY year worth, that at least 500 examples were built?

Exclude L88/ZL1/LS6/'71 ZRs...

Again, minimum 500 examples production-built...

Now, throw in the last ZR1s, '90-95...

You see, "classic" Corvettes are largely sought because of their ultra-rare status, or their "pedigre" or "provenance". Bloomfield Gold. "First" or "last" status. Rare options dramatically increase values, L89s for instance. That sort of thing. Few would use a current ZR1 as a daily driver or regular-use car. And likely no one will consider their "prized toy" LFA in that regard, either. Just as they don't their "Maranello Machine"... But, among "those" people, having an LFA will be as much of a "status" thing as the ZR1 was to the gang at the Friday Nite Cruise-in. Only "this" display will happen at the Country Club...

These cars are more likely to be compared to, and sought by, Ferrari/Lambo/Aston-type vehicles and clientele, who seldom/ever consider "Zora's Wonder" in any guise...

The LFA is a 2-Model-Year build, '11/'12, so 250 (roughly)/year. To be built roughly one-per-day, starting this winter, first delivery due in Feb./'11. Already pre-sold, worldwide.

Does it make sense? Does that really matter?
