Just wondering about the future.

I notice how everyone says the love to drive their Camaros, and I am no exception. The freedom to push the accelerated down to make the engine roar and plant you back in the drivers seat is such a great feeling. So I was wondering last night, would you guys be infavor of having cars that automatically drive for you? Like for instance, you get in the car, tell it where to go, and sit back and relax as the car drives you to your destination.

These cars may even be run on "green techonology" so no more 6/8 cylinder muscle with high HP, but rather ion batteries or natural gas. Also, instead of hearing and engine roar to life it will just be a silent ride with only the wind and the stereo making any noise.

So do you guys think you'll welcome future technology, or will you put up a fight for the freedom (well guess its more of a privledge) to drive and roar that engine whenever you please?

i don't think you need to worry yourself about that kind of future technology. you'll be dead.

Technology moves fast. We already have cars that can park themselves.

We already have the know how, but making it work on a national scale is the hard part. Also I doubt most people are willing to give up their rides as of yet. I personally think our future will be magnetic propulsion ...

no we don't. it turns the steering wheel. you still need to apply the gas and brakes. so we are 1/2 way there with parking.

So you plan on being around 100-200 years from now to see IF it happens?

So many other things to worry about or enjoy while you live. Technology is a nice thing but history proves that each time man takes too far a leap forward, man ends up starting all over. Go get yourself a bag of fortune cookies and have a blast.

It won't be 100-200 years away. Just saying!

Why can't we have it both ways ?

I drive my Mini as a commute vehicle, 34 mpg and still fun to drive.

But if I had the option for a self driving clean vehicle for those commutes and I could read, eat, or catch some more zzzz's ? Why the heck not ? Commuting sucks !

However, I love to drive. The Camaro is our driving car, our driving for the pure thrill of driving and let's enjoy every moment of it car. There is no reason to eleminate muscle cars/sports cars/exotics etc. just because we have the technology being developed to cut out the human factor and pollution, we still need the interaction with our machines and the open road !
