I guess it is all in what you like. My buddy drives Fords and would get a 'stang over a Camaro.

All I can say is I don't like Fords so I don't own one. Don't care if the new 'stang is faster, don't care that is weighs less. It's ugly and all that matters to me is what I like....

another Mustang thread....arrgghhh

No offense but you guys are starting to sound like the V6 Camaro guys...keep bringing up stuff about the other car to drown their insecurities about their own car. Geez, let it go. The 2011 Mustang with its 5.0 engine is nice and fast car. Who cares about the measly differences between it and the 2010 Camaro.

Not the wheels again, the Mustang is a smaller car, the 19s themselves are almost too much. What about Sync? Apparently you were looking at a premium which has sync standard. Anyways priced as you decribed is $37,780, that is right on top of the 2SSes, to make it more fair you really need to subtract the $1470 for acc group 5 which is just scoops which would bring that down to 36,310 including destination. A 2010 2SS with RS and polished wheels is $36,465 including destination, add $350 for ann 11 model (11 2SSes and 2LTs raise by $50 because of the HUD). so you have 36815 for the 11 2SS RS with polished rims. Now, considering a GT with the 3.31 gears has matched the quickest SS with 12.58 1/4 mile time, I think it's safe to take the optional $395 3.73 gears off since it is definatly not required to match SS performance. So how about 35915 to 36815 matched closely and both 11s. Neat.

Well said FFRCOBRA, You guys just need to leave it alone already!!! Both are good cars and both are great deals for what you get with them just different in there own way. I love my car and Ford lovers love their Mustangs. It doesn't Frickin matter if one can beat the other by 1 or 2 tenths or one has 19" wheels and the other has 20's. They are 2 great cars in their own way. The new Stang is just going to make Chevy step up in the upcoming years and try to better it then Ford will do the same and we all win when that happens.

But you're not getting custom painted rims. You're trading rims painted silver for rims painted a slightly darker shade of silver. Don't see how you can argue that there's a lot of extra cost in that.

3.55's, a stick, and candy red paint. Show me a new Camaro that can hang with this car for that kind of money. I'm a loyal GM guy but I will give credit where credit is due and the 5.0 Mustang is going to be king for 2011 and years beyond. It will be faster, quicker, and cost less, period.
I have driven by it a few times, sweet car!

So its more like "almost as fast, maybe as quick and possibly cost less, dot dot dot." but hey what fun would there be if there was no rivalry. bring it to the track.

Actually the lenses are the same, the inside of the housing is painted black to give the lens a darker appearance.

The weels are finished midnight silver instead of the factory silver so I am assuming they cost the same since the regular wheels are painted too.

Nevertheless it's a custom painted wheel and requires a separate paint run. I don't know the actual cost but I'm sure it's more than $20 to do this, even at the factory.

The roof mouldings are painted yes, and that is extra.

All SS's have the spoiler, that isn't included on the RS package when you buy a SS.

Right, the cost of the spoiler is subtracted on an SS but the RS package is available for all the models including the V6 so it's normally part of the package unless you get an SS.

I am just saying that the RS price on a SS is nearly all HID's. So I think we are agreeing, just maybe not on the amount.

Yeah I'm guessing the cost of the HID's and halos is around 2/3 of the RS price.

If you're getting a variation of the factory rim that's been painted a different color, then they're custom painted even though it's being done at the factory. They have to do a special paint run of these rims therefore they're "custom". The cost to the factory would depend on how many of these they do. There's a certain base cost for them to run any rim through paint and QC; the more of them they run the more cost-effective the production is. Because they run so many of the "standard" rim those are the cheapest for them to produce. In order for them to run a custom color, they have to clean, reload and prepare their paint system for this new color, and after they're done, they have to do all that again to reload the regular color. All that costs money so that's why they charge extra for a special "non-standard" color.

I wasn't really thrilled with Midnight Silver; it doesn't even begin to look like it's name. I was expecting them to be much darker; wish they had been actually. More like a black chrome would have looked good but whatever. I changed mine out to 3-piece forged anyways.

Yes but this isn't being done to order, it's surely done less than a handful of times over the course of a year's model run. Add the fact that the two colors basically need to be side-by-side to tell the difference and the Mustang's $600 HID option, while not having near the visual impact of the Camaro HID w/ halos, starts to look like a bargain in comparison.
