This is how a fair review looks. Leftlane reviewed the Mustang V6 with positives and negatives. The ones that struck me are the complaints about the standard tires and the lack of any sport mode. They liked the refresh at Leftlane but felt that there were still some "low-rent" interior components that could be removed. On the positive side, the review notes the high-revving power of the new V6. Conclusively, it is a worthwhile competitor with some minor quality and design issues.

Be nice in here, guys. Some of you guys could use a few posts outside of the Mustang section.

Taken from another forum. This is Steeda baseline testing a 2011 GT and then tuning it and adding a CAI.

Here is what they said:

Quote:
We have some numbers now we are ready to release. But first a little background.

In 5th gear this car dyno'd at 368hp but would hit the speed limiter before the rev limiter due to our car being a 3.31 gear equipped car. In 4th gear the car dyno'd at 336hp at the wheels.

We decided to work with the car in 4th gear. As I mentioned earlier in this thread this will produce lower numbers all around, from the baseline number to the final number so they should not be used to compare against other cars.

As mentioned earlier a car with 3.73's will also dyno slightly differently in both 4th and 5th gears. Add on top of that the fact not every dyno reads the same, different days with different weather conditions produce different results, etc and it becomes nearly impossible to make accurate apples to apples comparisons.

That is why discussions on power numbers can become so heated. With questions whether one company or even an enthusiasts dyno number is accurate, what it really means, will it affect performance?... etc... etc...

In addition, with the speed limiter removed and rev limiter increased wheel speeds in 5th were going 170+. As unlikely as it was that a tire would blow out from that wheel speed we decided safety first and did our testing in 4th to keep the wheel speeds safe.

The attached dyno sheet is from pulls done on the same day, on the same dyno, on the same car, all in 4th gear on a manual transmission 2011 5.0 with 3.31 gears. This is the culmunation of over 8 months worth or work both here and with Ford right in Dearborn on pre-production cars. The numbers shown are the result of the cold air and custom tuning. Like our 05-2010 Cold air kits a custom tune/cold air package will be required for these gains.

Peak gains are 44.04 horsepower and 52.84 ft/lbs of torque, with even higher point to point gains. The highlighted point at 5500 shows a gain of 59.83 horsepower and 59.19 ft.lbs of torque. These gains are on 93 octane fuel. The baseline number was on a completely stock car with 87 octane fuel as delivered from Ford.

So much for the 5.0 being maxed from the factory.

HMMMMMM
losing 32 whp from 4th to 5th gear
but they gained 44 whp with THERE intake and tune , so if they re dynoed in 5th gear it would put down 412whp ?
I smell something .

Yup, it had a slightly better trap speed than an L99.

The baseline pull was in 5th gear. It made 368rwhp on 87 octane as delivered from ford. If you read they said the speeds they would have to achieve on the dyno in 5th with the speed limiter removed was more than they felt safe with, because of a tire blowout.

Either way they made both pulls in 4th gear on the same dyno and same day. So the gains are there.

What was the mustang auto or stick?

It looked like the mustang was stick. You could see him shifting in the second video.
Also if that is the same 2011 mustang as in this video (Which i think it is)

Then its not stock Livernois lists the mods that the mustang has in the video i have posted.
(which it looks like to me because the mustang on the video that was posted has the same camera set up on the front bumper of the car as the one in this video that i posted)
Same mustang and the same company?!

Can you explain that to me please?

I never said the Mustang was stock.

That car I know has suspension mods, although I believe they are mainly geared for handling.

Well ya, so a modded stick mustang vs a modded L99?
Of course its going to trap better.
Livernois has over 3k in the mustang
Wheels, dampers, sway bar, 375 hp. Better handling can call for better times. Especially if he is running a 6 speed. Of course he will run better than an L99 camaro.... I am surprised that the guy in the L99 camaro only beat him with an intake...

God dammit I promised myself I wouldn't post in this ridiculously stupid thread.....

Do you really think the 336whp base line is right , even though 360-370whp is what most other shops with dynojets are getting . And some how they just did 368whp in 5th with a shortened run ?
I dont doubt the 380 whp just the fishy baseline . . . .

Looks like the 5.0 mods just as good as the L99. Impressive.

If you really think this car will dyno 412 rwhp from CAI and tune I hope you honestly realize that...

A.these numbers are skewed to the advantage of the company making the product

B. The dyno is happy due to issue A.

C. You think that an LS3 camaro really gains 40hp from a Vararam.

D. You realize they claim 38rwhp for the 05-09 cold air kit and tune as well. So I am not impressed if the 5.0 only makes 6 more hp than the 4.6 from identical mods....according to this VERY CREDIBLE source and numbers LOL

I have read of more than one guy on mustangsource that has had their mustang tuned and was in the 38x rwhp range (funny thats what they got here...but different gear LOL). BTW....a couple others (independent owners) also lost power from CAI's...WHY DONT YOU REPORT THAT TO US?

Is the mustangs performance only going to be gauged by evolution performance and or some other performance shop/biased company from day to day? that is laughable.

Lets wait for several independent tests/ owners #'s before we make conclusions....I have read some of your posts in the past...I know you are smarter than this...

I agree. 309 ft lbs is insanely low.

ultra, what guys are you talking about that have been tuned? As far as I have seen, there have only been shop cars tuned so far on the source. The only intake I have seen lose power was the MMR intake tested by justin at vmp, which I am not surprised about AT ALL as it was rushed into production like crazy and you can just look at the thing and tell it's going to be sucking straight hot air. Please post the independent tuning results and independent testing of the cold air intake.
