I'm not big on wagons personally, but part of that is that they don't fit my needs. I need something bigger. Unfortunately, the latest group of wagons (the Venza being the biggest perpatrator in the bunch) are just cross-overs or sport-utes that have been lowered a bit and made less "off-roadable". Automakers are just trying to get away from the "SUV stigma".

Face it, SUV's were really nothing more than wagons that were given a little more ground clearance and beefed up a bit. Since most people who buy SUV's don't take them off roading, they've been softened over the years....then when the liberals start griping about gas mileage, carbon footprint, etc, suddenly all the global warming is the fault of the SUVs and the automakers are too deep into them to just scrap them. So, soften them up a little more, lower them a bit and you have.....yeah, a wagon. It's all marketing.

That being said, if people want to buy wagons, then the automakers will make wagons and they will sell.

Now, while I don't really like this particular one, Buick lately has been cranking out some seriously nice stuff. We love our Enclave and their latest Lacrosse is taking a lot of sales away from Lexus ES's. More power to Buick for really designing and producing some very nice products lately.

I also like it. The rear end looks Audi or VWish... which isn't exactly bad per say... but the car as a whole is nice!

Still not as nice as a CTS wagon... but hey, you can't win all the time.

Hmm...these cars haven't been out long enough to prove if the segment is viable or not...but I do like it!

If it gets a few buyers to switch from those huge, wasteful Momster Truck (suburban driven only - soccer mom style) SUV's off the road, then it can't be all that bad. I like it and would like to see more of those upscale vehicle choices for that segment.

If you built a real nice wagon product, it would allow the Minivan-averse people to move away from the SUV without challenging thier virility. It's where we need to go.

I've seen the wagon in Opel Insignia trim. It's a verrrry nice vehicle.

Problem is true wagons don't sell well in the U.S.. And the Venza isn't a wagon, it's still an SUV like the SRX and their own Lexus RX.

This could siimply be for the China market where anything with a Buick badge is considered with high regard.

Did you know the average age of a Buick buyer in China is 32 years old? It's still in the 60's here in the U.S.. Hopefully on it's way down though with the Regal coming on board.

But if you want to simply see the possibilities for what the Regal "could" be if GM decided to bring the whole family here check this out.......

What do you think of the 5 door hatch?

It could be for the Chinese market...but it does have the US-spec front fascia.

Haha!

Are you still in Vet school? Cuz you need to work in the auto industry when you graduate!

I wouldn't be surprised if this is never brought to the US...wagons just don't sell here...Period!

If it does make it here i don't see it being a high volume car. It does look nice, but you won't catch me driving a wagon

Snooze factor is high... But then, I can't believe some of the raw, uninspiring steaming piles we as an automotive buying public will drive. I point and laugh at 90% of the junk in traffic daily.

For now, yes...but I'm leaning more and more towards working in the auto industry as an engineer now.
