Sorry if you took that as bashing mate, I see it as describing. But everyone will see it as they do. I guess i just made this partially out of frustration and partially to get reasons. I'm not saying that CamaroScotty was right with what he said, (obviously he wasnt) but i dont see that as a reason to close a thread. Like I said, I just feel like the mods are starting to get stricter and stricter. Example: the street racing poll thread. He asked a question about ppls opinions and explicitly stated there was to be no street racing stories. I think that the mods should focus more on banning the dumb mustang fan boys who come over here JUST to cause trouble lol.

I closed the street racing poll thread because that member had already started a street racing thread. The new thread would have gone nowhere fast. I know this because we have already closed/deleted more than a dozen street racing polls in the past. No offense to the poster of that thread, but it is the ruling of the site owner that we will not have any street racing stories. All that thread was designed to do was to stir up trouble in some effort to try and convince us into changing the website policy on street racing stories. If another website has a section for "kills" and street racing. thats fine. go over there to talk about it. It is not condoned by Camaro5.com and its staff and will not be permitted.
By allowing street racing stories we are openly condoning the act itself.

Now, I'm not saying that we are all perfect and we have never been out and done the same. The difference is the whole "what happens in vegas, stays in vegas" mentality.

I know people will continue to street race regardless of our position on it. Just dont bring it to the site. Is it really that important that you beat a [insert competitors car] on the streets of [insert city] that you have to tell the world about it?

moreso, is it really that important that you feel the need to race said car on said streets?

I just think it sucks that when your not part of the special club any funny banter posts get removed. Tis why I rarely even bother posting here honestly. Hard to test the water imo.

Those of you who know me well enough, know that I'm not afraid to speak my mind on any issue and I normally try to keep things light-hearted. This is the internet after all. That being said, the other mods have all made great points on this topic as it is.

my only question is this:

What purpose does starting this thread serve?

the threads you brought up in the OP, you had no idea what was going on in the background. And while I'm not trying to say that you don't have a right to ask questions, sometimes its better to find out information privately before raising an issue such as this.
mainly because these types of threads do nothing but raise mistrust within our ranks. I dont think that everyone should blindly line up and never speak their voice, but at the same time, keep this in mind:

this is a privately owned website and the owners rules dictate how we moderate the site.

everyone is here of their own free accord. If you dont agree with the way something has been handled, by all means ask us. In most cases its a very simple answer. (usually, member repeatedly not following the rules after being warned....repeatedly). and if you still dont like the way things are being handled, make use of another freedom here at Camaro5.com. the freedom to leave.

I dont know what your intention was in creating this thread (which is why I asked.) Whether it was just to find out why those threads (and possibly others) had been closed. or whether it was to see (as the title implies) how many people feel the same way as you about some recent events.

IDK. you tell me so we are on the same page.

The Scotty situation... that was his decision to make. If he feels he can't be here as anything more than a car salesman, then that is his call. There have been plenty of other members that have been "corrected" and they have stayed and been able to continue on posting without violating the rules because they are here for the Camaro above all else.

tho... one thing did catch my eye....

thats odd.... cus if I remember right...

a couple threads that you dont have the full story on are closed and we are nazis?

Like Tag Ur It said, this place is like a second home for a lot of us. Literally, like a second home. There have been stories about relationships on the brink of failure due to people being on this site so much. (some of those stories are very... very true). When I say this place is like a second home, I mean it. I'm a member on nearly every other camaro forum (and many other types of forums as well) out there. But none of which do I feel like I do with this one. You guys are our extended family. Some of us have been here nearly since the site's conception. We've been thru the ups and downs, the mustang trolls, the spammers, the overzealous vendors, the speculation, the enjoyment that is the 5th gen Camaro. (and so much more that I could go on about)

and with you being part of our extended family, we do what we can to satiate you without letting things go overboard. Sometimes we let things go on too long, sometimes we nip it in the bud before it gets a chance to explode. Cus its honestly a lot simpler to just shut it down early instead of having to play damage control after the fact. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the regular members don't know about. And it's that way for a reason. We may all be well-meaning adults (most of us anyway), but beliefs and internet attitudes (aka e-peens) can get out of control in a heartbeat. And as it has been said before, we cant be everywhere at once on here. Sometimes we'll see a thread starting to tip the wrong way right before we log off for the night and we'll remove a couple of posts that were pushing it in the wrong direction. Sometimes we'll just close it all together. Just depends on the situation. I know that many... many times before I became a moderator here, my posts were edited or completely removed. Not because of my content (well, sometimes they were), but because I was replying to someone else who was starting trouble and the other mods were doing "pre" damage control.

But, back to being that this is a second home for a lot of us. I find it destestable when someone comes into my home and accuses me of being a nazi. (regardless of my very strong aryan genetic descent )

(and another thing about me that you should know, I dont get offended very easily, and even when I do, it passes quickly. notice the dripping sarcasm in the genetic statement )

We dont just close/delete threads and posts without reason. Its all part of the bigger picture. Sometimes we can't see the forrest for the trees.

Being one of the first dealers on here back in 2008, often nearly 24/7, providing information as soon as I had it on the upcoming pre-ordering, Answering questions from people on ordering, some who weren't ordering from me while ordering was going on, and helping several people get parts, or other issues with their cars once they had them, and others running into problems in the ordering process......I think you have me mixed up with another dealer, because I was one of the few doing MORE than selling cars. When people find numerous threads discussing this, someone will more than likely contact me to buy a car, and that simply is not allowed under your rules, since I'm not lining any pockets. I can't just hang out like you say...someone will want to do business, and I'll have to not even comment on those requests. So it it obvious I was here for Camaro above sales. I'm proud to see a few others finally learning by example lately, because it is more than just posting your cars for sale in the CAMARO'S BY DEALER section.

I don't have an issue with the "past" that seems to be brought up. I received a three day ban for posting a url to a camaro ordering tracking site which I had nothing to so with. My notification said "you have been warned not to post that site", but I guess I was included in with the group that does run it, so it was a shared / implied ban. (others warning applied to me...)

The second past item is this site giving a dealer an exclusive to check customer orders....including those orders that could be mine. I was one of the first to check orders via email and PM as far back as April 2009, before a dealer checking them now was even here. GM had asked me to stop. Eventually, the VIZ started doing it and "paypal" was involved. I was told not to post in the order tracking thread because you want one dealer doing it....easier to police, you say...and that GM wants it that way...I couldn't find anyone at GM that said that, and in fact, was told by John Fitzpatrick all dealers are free to do so, on any site. Then I was told that it actually brings up potential franchise contract violations, in which one dealer could in turn, sue another dealer for "interfering" with that other dealers customer. Which I guess makes sense, because if you have only one dealer doing it, then only one could suffer issues as a result of action taken by other dealers. Any time I tried to discuss this, I got the "quit arguing, it's not up for discussion, any more comments and BAN!" response.... Can you see why I might be a little timid to hand over some sponsor money? When you are the most expensive site on the web for a sponsorship, trust will need to be a two way street.

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm not gone....Just transparent. Thanks.
