also, i believe Evolution performance got a 118mph (117.75mph) with just a 30rwhp gain (405rwhp) when they initially started their project so it seems that at the stock power levels, the shift into 5th at the end of the track hurts the 3.73 geared cars.

Except that 3.31 gear cars have been run and only managed a 112 MPH trap. I simply await more auto's to run!

Please don't get this thread locked. It has been very civil lately. We all know that things were done to that car to make that 10 run that we're not being told, but who cares? It is impressive nonetheless. Will anyone on these forums be able to reproduce those results? No. Is anyone saying they are going to buy a 5.0 and run a 10? No. Simply showing what the Coyote is capable of. A professional shop did it, with funds and experience that most people won't have. That's fine, but you yourself have to admit that a 10 run with no F/I or spray is damn impressive.

well, camaros have trapped lower than 105mph and higher than 112mph, looks like the 109-115mph variance for the mustang is within that range. I too would like to see more runs though.

We don't even know what the car weighed or put down and you call bull shit. The car made 415rwhp before the intake and tune on race gas. Plenty of cars with a lot less power can go 10's, for example the ls1's that we were talking about earlier. A bolt on 5.0 makes a hell of a lot more power than a bolt on ls1, so with unknown weight reduction, how can you say with full confidence that they are lying? That's just ridiculous, blind hate right there. With MM&FF being so involved with this process, I have a hard time believing they could get away with lying about spraying on that run. Ranger has driven a bone stock z06 to a 10.9, yet a car that is putting down slightly less power and could very well weigh the same or a bit more (we don't know the specifics of the weight reduction, they would have to remove about 400 lbs to reach z06 weight), but gets waaaayyyy better traction isn't capable of a 10? Come on now. Get real. At least wait until you know all the facts to call bull shit man.

Type 2010 MUstang GT TT in youtube. There's one there getting chased by a camaro. It's fast, but not as fast as I'd hope it to be.. maybe he's running very low boost or it's not tuned or I don't know maybe he just can't drive... Should be amazing on a 5.0 though.

Not to dampen the spirits of the Ford guys but aren't we all taking this a bit out of perspective? I know I have heard people talk about the difference in gearing between the Camaro and the Mustang but then everyone blows it off as a non-factor it seem. It's a huge advantage, guys, people should realize there is a drastic difference between the two cars in this respect.
Of course, my numbers could be wrong, but I show that the Camaro LS3 would have to have a 4.54 final drive to equal that of the GT with the 3.73's in first gear, 4.40 for second gear, 4.37 for third and so on. So basically, to match the GT in gearing, you're gonna need 4.55 gears on the SS. That's huge - I would love to see some of these guys running mid-12's stock do some runs with some 4.55's. Now I know the stock for stock argument and the GT is gonna be quicker bone stock but it ain't because the engine is something created by God himself - it's all in the gearing - the LS3 is a badass engine itself. I think the new 5.0 is an incredible engine but I won't bow down and worship it until I see what some LS3's do with equal gearing - I think the results will be quite impressive. If the SS still gets whacked, then I will reconsider. Someone may have already posted all this info. but I think it is pretty interesting. Just my .02. |
